God and guns are the secret to America's strength. If you never go to Kansas, you'll never figure it out - like Obama and his fellow liberals.

Mark Steyn should be required reading in American public schools. Which is exactly why he's not.

Thanks for the ping, knews_hound. Thanks for posting this, 2ndDivisionVet.
...a perfect storm of unsustainable entitlements, economic stagnation and declining human capital that's left them so demographically beholden to unassimilable levels of immigration that they're being remorselessly Islamized with every passing day.
And, still, the left doesn't get it.

BINGO, I live over here and you are bang on.
From the article, here is, IMO the Money Quote:
As for “gun-totin’,” large numbers of Americans tote guns because they're assertive, self-reliant citizens, not docile subjects of a permanent governing class.
Here is Europe, the King (or ruling class) has taken away the guns so long ago that the people today cannot understand why in America it is such a big deal.

Why should I travel? Im already here! Well put. If George Washington never saw any good reason to go to England or France, or anywhere else, I don't see why I should make a point of doing it either.

"God gave America the biggest d*** in the world so it could urinate on the rest of us and make their land 'free and strong.'"Obviously a serious case of envy.

"Were I a Kerry voter, though, I'd feel deep anger, not only at them returning Bush to power, but for allowing the outside world to lump us all into the same category of moronic muppets. The self-righteous, gun-totin', military-lovin', sister-marryin', abortion-hatin', gay-loathin', foreigner-despisin', nonpassport ownin' rednecks, who believe God gave America the biggest d*** in the world so it could urinate on the rest of us and make their land 'free and strong.'" Hey, that's not true of all of us. I never married my sister, and I do have a passport.

Americans were all messed up because we wanted to better ourselves, get educated and thought we could do better things in life - he was teaching the kids in his classes that they should be satisfied with what they had, not try to improve themselves or their lifestyles - that they should, basically, not dream of getting above their current station in life - That's almost an exact quote from a Michelle Obama speech earlier this year.
It makes sense. When you are preparing the next generation for the socialist hive, you can't have worker bees wanting to "better themselves" now can you.

Hey, that’s right! Washington never traveled beyond these shores, which does nothing to lessen his stature as Father of our Nation.

I don't doubt you are taking a course labelled "social psychology", but as a degreed social psychologist from back when it was a serious discipline, I can assure you with authority that there is no shred of "social psychology" in the material you described.
As for respect, psychology as a discipline has become largely Lysenko-ized and hence squandered its right to be respected by serious students.

"I have never learned to fight for my freedom. I was only good at enjoying it." This is what's wrong with Europe in a nutshell.
Exactly. Remember that today's Europeans are descended from peasants who didn't have the backbone to pack up and head to America when they had the chance.

You left off the punchline:
“”Were I a Kerry voter, though, I'd feel deep anger, not only at them returning Bush to power, but for allowing the outside world to lump us all into the same category of moronic muppets. The self-righteous, gun-totin’, military-lovin’, sister-marryin’, abortion-hatin’, gay-loathin’, foreigner-despisin’, nonpassport ownin’ rednecks, who believe God gave America the biggest d*** in the world so it could urinate on the rest of us and make their land ‘free and strong.’”
And the punchline:
“Well, that's certainly why I supported Bush, but I'm not sure it entirely accounts for the other 62,039,073 incontinent rednecks. “
Bada-bing, bada-boom!
An additional joke is that he (Reade) thinks Kerry voters worry about what the rest of the world thinks of Americans. Even Democrats are largely apathetic about the opinion of the rest of the world. Only a few elite liberals care.
And, of course, conservatives don't care what Europe or the rest of the world thinks.
Although a recent article in IBD says the rest of the world likes us more, due to Pres. Bush: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2003784/posts

"I have never learned to fight for my freedom. I was only good at enjoying it." Actually, the proximate cause of this passivity might just be that Europe didn't need to defend itself for the last 50 years.
Because you-know-who was doing it for them.
These things have an effect.
