BAGHDAD, Iraq Coalition forces captured a suspected Iranian-trained Special Groups commander and three other suspected criminals Sunday during operations in the Kadamiyah district of Baghdad.
The targeted individual allegedly conducted attacks against Iraqi security and Coalition forces and was involved in extra-judicial killings in Baghdad. Reports also indicate the wanted individual was an associate of several senior-level criminal element leaders involved in attacks on Coalition forces.
Intelligence led Coalition forces to the targeted individuals location. En route, Coalition forces came under attack by small arms fire from unknown assailants. After arriving at the targeted individuals location, Coalition forces came under attack from rocket-propelled grenades. Close air support was called to eliminate the hostile threat.
After successfully apprehending the targeted individual and three other suspected criminals, Coalition forces departed the area. As they departed, Coalition forces came under an enemy ambush by small arms fire. To eliminate the hostile threat, air support was called in again, killing three criminals.
Coalition forces will continue to seek out and bring to justice criminals who ignore the rule of law and who terrorize the people of Iraq through their criminal activity, said Cmdr. Scott Rye, MNF-I spokesman.
This new phrase forced upon us by the Iraqi government is a joke
Criminals=Terrorists.
Well,...Sadr’s threats were not idle threats....
I don’t too much like the term “extra-judicial killings....” What is that ‘sposed to mean?
Sounds like the locals are singing....
Criminals? What's with that? If they have a "commander" would they not be "solders?" Are they wearing some sort of ID or uniform?
Get the waterboard ready for this scumbag.
I wouldn’t say that...I kinda like it. Calling these criminals “terrorists”, gives them an imprimatur they certainly don’t deserve. They were mostly recruited out of prisons, and from the thugs and pickpockets of the slums and streets. They desrtve to have their hand and a foot cut off, by their own laws that they say they enforce on the people for the will of God....”Mujahideen”, my foot!
IRAQ: Shiite vs. Shiite battle mounts ( no mention of Iranian involvement by the MSM?)
No trial.
IRAQ: Stuck in the middle - The United States has put itself in a dangerous spot --
Trained by Iran only means one thing.
However if you prefer we could call the mercenary scumbags.
That's my prediction....
Of course. The author is very unclear on the issue.
Knowing what queers even our leadership in the Army has become, we will hold them as quests, politically work out some deal, and when the dust settles, without the public ever knowing, hand them over to Iran after some drug deal was worked out. It will be behavior like that which will kill the support of the war even on the right. The right understands the threat and the need to deal with it. They understand that things aren't always pretty but they are a reality of life. What many on the right don't agree with is when wars become political and our guys die while senior political leaders play a chess game in some “graduated escalation” concept. The right doesn't like games being played and frankly their simplistic word view, often mocked and described as over-simplistic, if applied would have ended Muqtar Al Sadr in 2004, a problem we're STILL dealing with because of our pussyfooting around. It's those who worry about the symbolic value of Sadr, the timing of operations so that they are in concert with certain political processes, etc etc etc, who while even maybe in support of the war will cause the base of supporters for the war to peal away. Don't play games- The surge worked. Saddam's death had a net positive effect even if criticized by the liberal media (The fear of his return by the Iraqi's is gone)...... Be benevolent to the innocent victims of war, but ruthless to the enemy. -MHO
McCain still can't make up his mind.
