Capping a frenzied final weekend of campaigning in Pennsylvania, the Democratic presidential candidates escalated their attacks on each other in speeches and in a last-minute barrage of advertisements on Sunday, aiming at voters who are still undecided just two days before the states marathon primary battle culminates.
The Clinton campaign released an ad accused Senator Barack Obama of taking money from lobbyists over the last 10 years, while the Obama campaign fired back in its own commercial, describing the Clinton ad as misleading and complaining of 11th-hour smears. The back and forth came as Mr. Obama on Saturday called Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton a slash-and-burn game player who will do anything to win.
Mr. Obama made other stops throughout the eastern portion of the state, and on Sunday evening he staged a rally in Scranton, where Mrs. Clinton has deep family roots, and was accompanied by a native son of the city, Senator Bob Casey.
Senator Edward M. Kennedy, Democrat of Massachusetts, was also among those campaigning across Pennsylvania for Mr. Obama on Sunday.
The final weekend push of campaigning occurred as polls showed a contest that appeared to be running tighter in the state.
A poll released Sunday, conducted for McClatchy Newspapers, MSNBC and The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, showed that Mrs. Clinton lead Mr. Obama by a margin of 48 to 43 percentage points. Eight percent were still undecided, according to the poll taken April 17-18. The poll had a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points.

If youre going to associate and have as a friend and serve on a board and have a guy kick off your campaign that says hes unrepentant, that he wished bombed more, Mr. McCain said on This Week on ABC. Then, the worst thing of all, that, I think, really indicates Senator Obamas attitude, is he had the incredible statement that he compared Mr. Ayers, an unrepentant terrorist, with Senator Tom Coburn, Senator Coburn, a physician who goes to Oklahoma on the weekends and brings babies into life comparing those two I mean, thats not thats an attitude, frankly, that certainly isnt in keeping with the overall attitude.
I take the continuing exchange of ad hominem remarks between Clinton and Obama to mean that they do not see any major fires that need to be addressed ASAP with respect to the economy or health care issues, not that the federal government has the constitutional power to address health care issues anyway. Indeed, what happened to Hillary Care and Obama’s hope for the future?
So I went to church tonight and my friend came up to me and had her 6 year old daughter tell me a joke that she either made up or heard at school...
Remember this is a 6 year old)
Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are walking down the road and fighting and they both fall off a cliff... Who is saved??????
AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I almost died laughing and told my friend she was doing a good job raising that girl right HA!!!!!
Go Johnny Go!!!!! Get that nasty Obamabi!!!!!
I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Score one for McCain!!!!!!!
Thanks for sharing that!!! ROTFLMAO!
I think McCain’s camp does have a pipeline to the ARCHITECT. I say that because other day he was saying Hillary and her campaign is stupid because they didn’t attack Obama right after Wright Story broke and waited too long. I guess he believes it took the sting away from the attack and looked like fabricated and phony outrage.
Here, McCain doesn’t waste anytime. So I am guessing the quick rapid response indicates, either his own campaign manager is as smart as ROVE or they are taking some advice from him.
In my view, Rove is an ASSET. To not use him is sheer stupidity. Hope Mac has some input from him.
The first qualifying quality of a president is that he loves his country. Mr. Obama do you love your country? (crickets)
Even the NYT title make them sound like terrorists.
Just watched the final episode of “John Adams”. Just thinking of Hillary or Obama as ANY hope as POTUS sickens me.
