Democrats Cancel Raleigh Debate By REBECCA DANA April 22, 2008

The North Carolina Democratic Party canceled a presidential debate that was to take place on April 27, in advance of the state's May 6 primary, citing financial and time constraints as well as fears that the event would resemble last week's ABC News debate, which drew criticism for its moderators' focus on scandals over policy.

The debate would have been the 22nd such meeting between Sens. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton in the 2008 campaign. Sen. Clinton had committed to participating in the debate, but Sen. Obama had preferred an earlier date for the debate and had been reluctant to commit to April 27.

The state's Democratic Party said that because Sen. Obama hadn't committed by Monday, it faced logistical problems: not enough time to raise money for the debate and impending deadlines for reserving space and equipment at the RBC Center in Raleigh, where it was to be held.

Jerry Meek, chairman of the state's Democratic Party, said he also had taken into account an outpouring of emails from voters who were troubled by Wednesday's Democratic debate in Pennsylvania, moderated by ABC anchormen Charles Gibson and George Stephanopoulos.

Among those who reached out to the state Democratic Party, "the consensus was they felt the ABC debate didn't touch on the most important issues and they were concerned that might happen again," Mr. Meek said. An ABC News spokesperson declined to comment.

Cancelled due to fears they would get asked questions. Is America catching on that the democrats are thugs?

Ponder this, they will even throw ABC under the bus in order to remain prima donnas. How did teh MSM suddenly become part of the vast right wing conspiracy?

If they are afraid of ABC, we need to be afraid of them.

..."the consensus was they felt the ABC debate didn't touch on the most important issues and they were concerned that might happen again," Mr. Meek said.

The differences between the two on the issues is negligible. The only thing left to determine is who hangs out with a seedier group of people.

I think so, in fact, on Fox tonight, many Dems are saying that in so many words. They don’t like the fact the two charlatans are NOT ADDRESSING THE ISSUES. They should be concerned — because the real national issues are nothing these two carpetbagger socialists are interested in. It is all about power — one over the other. Maybe a few of the kool-aid drinking mindless libs are catching on to what the radical far left is all about.

Thugs? You are being VERY KIND.

You know if I were a democrat I’d be really upset not to see them debate.I don’t think any of us would’ve been too happy not to see our side debate! So if BO is so smart and ready why is he so afraid to go up against a girl?

It’s hard to maintain a nationwide messianic appeal when your candidate turns into Elmer Fudd under the lights.
