The claim is not that LA is a third world city right now. The claim is that it is becoming a third world city. If you had grown up in LA and seen what has happened to it in the last 30+ years, you would probably understand the cause for cocern.
After I got out, I couldn't believe what I used to think of as acceptable living conditions. I'm very sad about what has become of my hometown.

Not all the Mexicans. The truck driver, the coyote recommended by their friend, Nacha, and Jorge (in the restaurant) were sympathetic characters. The coyote from Zacatecas was a bad guy.
Let me spell it out for you.
It means for every 100,000 people ya got in Richmond, there are 38.8 murders. In LA there are only 12.4 for the *same* amount of people.
No matter how ya chop it up, this is mind boggling and means the degree and frequency of crime occurring in Richmond Virgina makes Los Angeles look like a church picnic.
As a matter of fact, Indianapolis has substantially more crime per capita in EVERY SINGLE major crime category than LA, California.

You seem to have a reading comprehension problem. I gave you a link to an article about the gang and racial wars going on in LA. This is more than just crime rates, which don't tell the whole story.
There is no doubt that statistically Richmond has a higher crime rate per capita than LA. Of course LA's population is 3,879,455 compared to Richmond's 195,708. If you compare LA to NYC, LA has a much higher crime rate per capita with almost twice the murder and forcible rape rates.
The bottom line is that LA is becoming a third world city due to a huge influx of immigrants, legal and illegal. The gap between rich and poor, failing schools, increased welfare rolls, corruption, and out of control gangs mark a city in decline.
I live in Nashville.
Nashville is 26% black.
Legal latino population is around 8% which trust me indicates that if you include illegals then it has to be at least 2-3 times that.
hence the white population is probably more like 50-55% these days....hardly predominate.
And if you look at who commits the crimes at what rate then you will see how the problem lies in Nashville same as elsewhere.
Did you really think Nashville is in the top ten because whites are running around pell mell committing crimes like they are in East St Louis or Camden NJ?
If so you need to read up more. There are simply no cities in the nation where whites are repsonsible for large crime rates. None. If someone knows of one please pass it on.
and drunk in Anchorage or Fairbanks or Bangor in the winter does not count.
the only exceptions to the whites and crime stats might be the occasional rural town where local crackers run the dope and gambling and vices and have corrupted law and politics....the sorta stuff you see on 60 Minutes
but that does not translate into higher random victim crime rate...just more vice and corruption....the streets might be perfectly safe.

The greedy employers/corporations by supporting corrupt politicians with cash, have been able to keep the borders open, to ensure their never ending conga-line of millions of illegal low wage laborers continues.

I based my answer on having watched several episodes of ‘COPS’.... lol. Most of their Nashville suspects are white and they are doozies. Look at the article again. It’s very short, a sound bit really. I try to base my comments on the posted article. The claim that L.A. is a third world city, based on immigration statistics, is false.
We have had a high immigrant population ever since I can remember. Back mid-20th century, the white immigration was from the mid-West U.S. and black from the South U.S. In the late ‘70s and into the ‘80s, a huge influx from New York, mostly NYC. That started the trend to rudeness and bad traffic, IMO, plus elitist attitudes.
Mexicans have been here forever, and there are several-generation familias in East L.A. In public life, they assimilated like everyone else but had their own private life culture. No problema.
The Reagan amnesty brought the first flood of illegals, not only from Mexico but heavily from El Salvador, Nicaragua and Guatemala, many of the Central Americans being true refugees. There was, at first, resentment from the older Mexican American families towards the “pochos.”
California is the fifth largest economy in the world, and the largest food producer in the U.S. and has always needed farm labor. That’s another factor I’ll throw in.
Now the hi-tech industries need skilled workers. They come from India and Asia. I personally have an immigrant friend from Czech Republic, here 10 years and now a citizen. The 50% immigrant work force referred to in the news bite is not all Mexican or Hispanic, by any means.
Truth be told, the only growing influx to the U.S. I would truly worry about is Islamic.
You seem to be fixated on per capita crime rates. Your focus should be on the LA gang wars and what some have deemed ethnic cleansing. I am sure you have not taken the time to read the article I linked to you. You really should read it before spouting off.

One cannot deny that crime is higher in barrios than elsewhere. It is simply a fact.
I can’t argue that Northeasterners tend to be more demanding and rude...lol...you won’t get an argument from me on that.
In the case of Los Angeles th demographic that makes huge parts of the city so dangerous for everyone is black or hispanic. Plain and simple. It’s not whites or asians.
