Gray Lady demands Hillary be quiet and start losing
Hot Air ^ | 4/23/08 | Ed Morrissey

Even before the scope of Barack Obama’s loss became apparent in last night’s Pennsylvania primary, the New York Times editorial board published a screed attacking Hillary Clinton for remaining in the race. Called “The Low Road to Victory”, it demands an end to her campaign even while she handily wins major states. Actually, it’s not that they want her to quit, but that they want her to stop competing against Obama so hard — apparently conceding that Obama can’t win in a tough race:

The Pennsylvania campaign, which produced yet another inconclusive result on Tuesday, was even meaner, more vacuous, more desperate, and more filled with pandering than the mean, vacuous, desperate, pander-filled contests that preceded it.

Voters are getting tired of it; it is demeaning the political process; and it does not work. It is past time for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton to acknowledge that the negativity, for which she is mostly responsible, does nothing but harm to her, her opponent, her party and the 2008 election......

No, bias there ... LOL!

No, “you go girl”!

I want Hillary as the nominee. She is more easily beaten.

This is divine providence now. PA did it by clinging against the empty suit.
Rush is not responsible for this.

And I say that liking the guy.

This is bunk. Negativity does work. PA Dems (and maybe a few crossovers) gave her a decisive victory. There was a record breaking number of primary voters. Voters weren't turned off, they came out in droves.

The New York Times seems to be unable to resist embarrassing itself on a daily basis.

Perhaps they should devote one day a week to theater reviews, fashion, and homemaker recipies only.

They have lost their way in those atmospheric executive enclaves - they should emerge into the bitter and polluted air - walk the streets more often - get in touch with reality and people.

Voters are getting tired of it

If voters are "tired of" Hillary's tactics, why did they hand her a 10-point victory on record turnout?

Says who?? This statement, in a nut shell, is why most of us simply loathe the NYTimes.

According to the NYTimes proclaims thatvoters are getting tired of this whole messy democratic election process and it all should come to a halt, right? Democracy, and the process is demeaning??? It does not work???

The poor sinking NYTimes, they never really did like this whole democratic election process to begin with, did they? They always had a soft spot for guys like Stalin, right?

I respectfully disagree. McPain would take 47 or so states against B. Hussein; Hillary would make it MUCH closer.

“Voters are getting tired of it;”

Obama tells us how we feel, and now the NYT. Wish politicos and pundit would quit pretending to know what we think when in reality they are imposing on us what they WANT us to think. More like mind-reading than journalism.

10 points is “inconclusive”, according to the NY Times. Maybe they want a re-count of the hanging chads!

She is more easily beaten.

While that may be so, McCain would fight harder against Obama. Hillary is his friend. IMO, McCain is in it only to turn it over to Hillary in the end. I think it was a set up from the beginning.

Sorry, Hillary would run on the "I'm a victim." mantra. McCain couldn't or won't go after her because he will get painted as a bully. Besides, her even being in the race just scares the crap out of me.

NObama has shown himself to be the complete empty suit he is, and now the DIMS are going to have to really snow a lot of people to get him elected.

The problem, is most of the Hillary supporters will not support NObama, and vice versa.

There is also one other aspect people haven't considered. If NObama doesn't get the nomination, there will be rioting in Denver and other major cities like LA, NY, Philly, Atlanta, etc, like we haven't seen since the Watts riots.

The best reason for us to want Hillary to be the nominee is that it will fracture the Dem party not only for this election, but for many more to come. Stealing the election from the black guy who is part of the Dem’s most loyal constituency will have a far reaching impact. On the other hand, an Obama nomination will sew up the black vote for the Dems for many generations to come.
