"This election," Bill Clinton said in the hours before the Pennsylvania primary, "is too big to be small." It was a noble sentiment, succinctly stated, and the core of what Democrats believe - that George W. Bush has been a historic screwup as President, that there are huge issues to be confronted this year. But it was laughable as well.

I let my TV on not long ago, and doing something else. I kept overhearing the word "Bronoco Bomber" from CNN anchor on TV at the time. I thought a new mad bomber turned up in U.S. a la Unabomber.
Later, I realized that he was referring to Barak Obama. He was pronouncing his name like 'Buh-ra-ko Ba-muh.' It really sounded "Bronco Bomber.":-)

That is funny.
TODAY'S QUESTION
Did Jimmah Cahtah REALLY lay a wreath at the former Syrian nuke site ?

It was nice to have all the media attention for six weeks.
It is also nice now not to answer phones with recorded messages urging us to vote for this or that group's favorite Marxist.

Her campaign had been an assault on Obama's character flaws, real and imagined, rather than on matters of substance.
Um, character flaws ARE matters of substance. Y'all thought so during the Nixon Administration. You just forgot because you spent so many years giving Bill Clinton a pass on everything. And now you complain that he's a shameless liar who will say anything if it's to his political advantage.

an assault on Obama's character flaws, real and imagined, rather than on matters of substance Here's the problem with the left, laid bare:
"Character flaws" and "matters of substance" are treated as two separate things, i.e., a character flaw is not substantive.

I'm not sure that Bill and Hillary Clinton are reasonably sane human beings,... Really???
The rest of us know they're not sane.

Each of the ABC moderators' questions were about controversies that erupted in the '60s. And somehow that makes them old news, eh, Mr. Klein?
Never mind that the homegrown terrorist was still on O'bama's staff, that the flaming Reverend was still on O'bama's staff, that O'bama's flag pin statements were within six months.

Hillary scares me simply because I know I can't trust her as far as I could throw Mt. Rushmore. Obama is a died-in-the-wool Marxist. His latest ads here (in IN) talk about CEO's who earn more in 10 minutes than a lot of people do all year. Is this just penis envy or perhaps there's a real reason why that's the case. Could it be the CEO is putting hundreds of millions on the line to earn that return? He goes on to say that he will tax money away from those (highly productive) rich people. Interestingly, he doesn't directly say he'll give it to the (less productive) poor people. The whole idea that some people can make more than other people bothers Obama, but he never considers the impact incentives have on the economic system.
He wants to add a windfall profits tax on oil companies, which is somehow supposed to make me feel better at the pump because my gas money ends up in some politician's freezer instead of being reinvested to find more oil. How does sending more of my money to that sinkhole called Washington lower my pump price? At least the oil companies produce something. He wants to raise taxes on imported steel to protect steel worker jobs. So now 300 million consumers get to pay higher prices for all steel products just so we can protect 5,000 steel workers. That's supposed to be a net benefit to us?
Obama is using the same old Democrat tax ideas that have never worked in the past to buy votes from people who don't know how to think things through. Man...wouldn't it be neat if you had to be able to do more than simply fog a mirror to vote.

Well, you see, the problem is, being Democrats, everyone KNOWS THE CODE.
All those years they were screaming “Bipartisanship! Cross the aisle!” when what they REALLY meant (of course) was “Do it OUR way!!!”
Now when someone like Billy Jeff or Ho-Wad Dean says “For the good of the party!!!” everyone knows darn well that they really mean “For the good of MY pet candidate”. Why should they be taken seriously?

The audacity of the Obama campaign was the belief that in a time of trouble - as opposed to the peace and prosperity of the late 20th century - the low-information politics of the past could be tossed aside in favor of a high-minded, if deliberately vague, appeal to the nation's need to finally address some huge problems.
BULL FREAKIN' CRAP.
Obama's being "young articulate and black" IS "low-information signaling." When he dances on the Ellen Degeneres show, THAT is "low information signaling." When he refuses to wear an American Flag, THAT is "low information signaling". When he hangs out with Oprah Winfrey, THAT is "low information signaling."
It's just that you think that low information signaling only fools knuckle-dragging cave dwellers in the Republican Party. Elite liberals have their own low information signaling as well.

The sprouting of flag pins on the lapels of politicians was a response to the flag-burning of antiwar protesters; the violence of Weather Underground members like William Ayers, with whom Obama was said to be "friendly," was a corruption of the peace movements as well. All of these occurred before Obama reached puberty
The "sprouting" of flag pins on the lapels of politicians was a response to the TERRORIST ATTACKS OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2001. These took place when Obama was 40 FREAKING YEARS OLD.

There is a drastic need to wean ourselves off fossil fuels for national-security, environmental and basic supply-and-demand reasons.
Or we could drill for the stuff, which is plentiful in Alaska, off the coast of California, in the Gulf Of Mexico, in Texas, Oklahoma and the Dakotas.
If we really need to wean ourselves from fossil fuels to cut down on carbon dioxide emissions, then the best option is nuclear energy.

In order to have an election about those big challenges, we need to shove some serious social issues - like gun control and, yes, even abortion - and phony character issues to the periphery.
Translation: In order to win the election, we need to shove the issues which help us down your throat and distract attention away from the issues which hurt us. And now, CHARACTER IS AN ISSUE WHICH HURTS OBAMA, even though a few months ago, character was an issue which was central to Obama's message.

Wow. Joe Klein obviously doesn’t get it. This was just an extended exposition on the bitter, small-town stooges who cling to guns and religion theme. A tool like Klein, who is so enamored of Obama’s “high-minded”, yet “vague” campaign, is the perfect sort of useful idiot that Barry and the Obamabots need. Klein quite clearly indicates a desire to have a “great leader”, rather than a President who actually has to listen to constituents, deal with an unruly congress and unpredictable supreme Court.
Most of all, tools like Klein really want a benevolent dictator who will lead us all around by the nose and take us to the promised land of universal health care, a $20 minimum wage, interest free mortgages for everyone, and, presumably, 15% permanent unemployment. Hey, why not, we’ll just support them by soaking the rich some more. Klein avoids Obama’s biggest blunder during the debates: his incredible ignorance of the revenue reflows through lower capital gains taxes and his desire to soak the rich, even at the expense of generating revenue for his precious welfare-state programs. This, by itself, disqualifies Obama to be president.
Beyond that, though, Klein really does seem to think that our president should be a member of the elite—just that he can’t wear it on his sleeve so as not to offend the rubes in flyover country. Yet another sign that the Obamabots and their MSM supporters either out of intentional desire or out of sheer stupidity, are attempting to put a true fascist in the White House.
