25 mothers taken from FLDS ranch now believed to be minors

SAN ANGELO, Texas — Twenty-five mothers staying at a shelter for children taken from a polygamists' compound are now believed to be minors.

Child Protective Services spokesman Darrell Azar says the girls initially claimed to be adults but are now believed to be under 18. The girls are in state custody.

The discovery takes the number of children taken from the ranch controlled by the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to 462. The number has been climbing since the state swept all the children off the ranch nearly three weeks ago.

Of the children taken into custody, roughly 260 remain at the San Angelo Coliseum. The others were bused to foster facilities around the state.ate.

It will never happen, unfortunately.

Is motherhood now against the law? How may teen mothers in housing projects? How many teen mothers have abortions?

After this is over then, you are ok then with the state going after the rest of the parents that don't reasonably supervise their kids?

Let’s just suppose we read an article about a 34 yr-old black pimp, Rulon, who never attends Church because he worships the ALMIGHTY DOLLAR. He has collected a dozen or so 13-16 yr-old runaways, dressed them in salacious clothing and sent them out on the streets as prostitutes, after raping them for *experience*. He keeps them controlled in an isolated tenement and threatens them with hell and damnation if they try to leave. They are encouraged to take birth control, but if they get pregnant - Rulon sends them to the welfare office for food stamps. Their babies are either aborted or put up for adoption...especially the boy babies.

Would there be a demand for LE and CPS to step in and arrest Rulon?

Just have to wonder if there would be the same criticism of LE.

Well, let's see: 25 of them (MOTHERS) (& probably counting) ...
...id'd as 17 & under...
...which means they were impregnated between the likely ages of 13-16...

And somehow, I don't think that these girls' mock wedding days' were timed, either, to coincide with some magical 16th birthday, as if either the fLDS or their spiritual and physical forefathers before them, really cared about what marriage law states or stated.

Well, I guess we should just turn these girls back over to their nasty drooling old rapists, because other girls are also pregnant.

Is motherhood now against the law? How may teen mothers in housing projects? How many teen mothers have abortions?

Non-sequitor argument.

First, you compare all 19 & under teen moms (your words, "teen mothers") vs. 17 & under teen girls in this situation--which means they were impregnated 16 & under.

Secondly, you need to know the dynamics of this cult to know that not only were there not a whole lot of teen boys around to even be remotely considered as the fathers in these cases, the reality is that these girls were given mock weddings to a man already married--a man much older than them.

Which leads to point #3, which is that it's statutory rape for such a liaison (minor girl/adult male). In your "housing project" comparison, a 17 yo male, for example, who gets a 17, 16, or 15 yo girl pregnant is NOT statutory rape. Therefore your false assumption is that these "housing project" pregnancies are always actionable by law enforcement...a false assumption.

I am astonished at gullible folks who are suckers for anyone who calls himself “a spiritual leader”. I don’t remember anyone defending Charlie Manson and his harem of female zombies - and yet he used the same brain washing techniques.

If Charlie had just been a little more evil (right) he would have called his ranch a TEMPLE and his girlfriends his “spiritual wives”.

As noted on another thread: Of the 460+ FDLS “children” there are only 37 boys. That statistic alone defies natural law. Did they abort baby boys based on ultrasound or have “sister wives” been performing partial birth abortions?

For anyone who looks to the law to determine the morality of this mess, if these women had called the State demanding their right to abort their unborn, the State would set armed agents to protect that right.

I understand that Texas does not require birth certificates (or some similar complication). I guess they have accessed the church’s records. Or else cut them crosswise and counted the rings.

Sometimes. in light of massive police actions, one wants as much proof as possible. I hope it is forthcoming. It is odd that the case is being tried in the media, with the word “probably” throuwn in. Okay, it is not odd, it is to be expected these days by both side of a case. I will be more at ease when the word “probably” can be omitted.

You are correct, what you state is a travesty but a crime somewhere else does not devalue or void the crime here.

How many teen mothers were given up by their parents to an old man to impregnate so he could put them on welfare?

Most teen mothers also have teen fathers and appalled “how could this happen?” parents. Not old men “spiritual husbands” and parents who pimped her out for religious props.

In fact it looks like Jeffs, like the Communists before him, thought the family ties were the strongest ties besides those to the cult; and so had to be severed. They apparently moved children around so that they wouldn't have any real parents or real parenting; just the cult.
