MONTHS before authorities removed 416 children and 139 women against their will from the Texas compound of the fundamentalist Mormon sect, the producers at WE were all over them like a bad smell...
< snip >
Tomorrow's episode tells not just their stories but those of other women and girls who were forced into marriage at 13 and 14 years old.
Carolyn was married off as a teenager to a man called Meryl Jessop, who was 32 years her senior and already had three wives. Jessop was then the No. 2 guy in command and is now the un-anointed Prophet following the conviction of Warren Jessop, the old prophet, for complicity in the rape of a young girl.
She tells how her enslavement began when her father asked "Uncle Roy," who was then the prophet, if Carolyn could go to college. Uncle Roy thought it would be better if she were instead immediately married off to Meryl, who took her from the ceremony to a motel to consummate the marriage. The next morning he told her, all in all, a new dog was better than a new wife, he believed.
Her escape with eight kids in the middle of the night with a near-empty gas tank is the stuff of horror movies.
Also exposed during this show is a baby graveyard in which Flora discovered 200 baby graves that had been dug in one month alone! And it's no wonder. The Prophet directs mothers of crying babies to either slap them until they stop or to hold their infant's face under a running faucet.
There is no reason that this abomination exists in America - and brava to WE for keeping this story going.

Wrong again. It wasn't the sheriff, it was an informant and it was 4 years not two.
And he wasn't allowed access to what he needed the most.
The title of the show on WE is probably “Secret Lives of Women”.
here is the Dishnetwork info I have

About halfway down in the article the procedure called *breaking the baby* is described.
Warren Jeffs, which you keep ignoring on every thread you ask that question on.
Good evidence that NOTHING that's found in a court of law will convince you.
The kids should have been taken when Jeffs was convicted. This is way overdo.
Thanks.
Nope. You haven't been reading the threads.
Do either of you greyfoxx or pm, have links to the articles discussing the informant?
You really think the First Amendment was written to protect illegal behavior just because someone decides to call it religion?
Many religions practiced child sacrifice for thousands of years. By your reasoning, that would be protected too.
Is that what you think?
That’s the same source, though: Carolyn and/or Flora Jessop. The question remains, is there corroboration or physical evidence.
Carolyn and Flora ARE corroborating each others stories.
The informant is mentioned in the second search warrant affidavit.

Perhaps if the exhume the graves and determine the cause of death, they might find water in the babies lungs. But that’ll take time and I have no idea if they’re planning on doing that. I can’t believe that all the babies survived that.
Why isn’t their word good enough?
They seem to be together.

You think they made it up? Why do you have reason to imply that they’re lying. They were married to the same man, I beleive; they likely saw the same treatments.
Have authorities found the graveyard? The impression I got from the article is that either Carolyn or Flora (sorry, I’m getting their different stories mixed up) claims to have seen a graveyard, not that anyone else has.
And why their word isn’t good enough is because sometimes people who say things aren’t telling the truth deliberately, or are telling what they believe is the truth but actually isn’t. Other times, of course, the statements are true. I don’t know whether to believe these accusations, which is why I’m asking if there are corroborating witnesses or other evidence.
Sorry...
