What a mess. I feel for the CPS workers trying to sort all of this out.

I find the number of fractures disturbing, given the fact that these are not children who play, or participate in sports.

"As a Member of Congress, I am concerned that federal tax dollars may have been misused to fund this sect's illegal activities," Granger wrote in a letter earlier this month.

Congress and the DOD should also be concerned about cost and quality control issues with this contractor, as the FLDS teaches that "bleeding the beast," i.e. ripping off the government, is a righteous act.

Well done! We’re closing in on it, but not there yet.

Recording the births is law, as is filing for social security numbers. They’d have to do that before they could get welfare...so why all the confusion over who begat whom...

Unless, as you say, there is overlap. More benefit dollars than they have people. I’d bet on it.

“Maggie said there is no evidence of alleged child abuse at the YFZ Ranch.”

Hey, Maggie (no last name) did you see this?

The chief of protective services in Texas is telling legislators that investigators have uncovered a history of physical injuries, including broken bones, in children taken from a polygamst sect.

Commissioner Carey Cockerell, who oversees the state agency now caring for the children, said medical examinations have revealed numerous physical injuries, including broken bones in “very young children.”

Sex Abuse Of Polygamous Sect Boys Investigated

41 Children Have History Of Injuries, Official Says

AUSTIN (AP) ― Texas officials have told legislators they're looking at the possible sexual abuse of some young boys taken from the polygamist sect's ranch.

In a written update provided to lawmakers Wednesday, the state Child Protective Services division says it is looking into possible sexual abuse of boys based on interviews and journal entries.

The agency provided no other details.

Earlier, Commissioner Carey Cockerell - in charge of the umbrella Department of Family and Protective Services - told lawmakers 41 children have evidence of broken bones.

The disclosures are the first suggestions that anyone other than teen girls may have been physically or sexually abused. The state has custody of 464 children taking from the Yearning For Zion Ranch in the west Texas prairie town of Eldorado, including a baby born to a teen mother Tuesday.

Source.

It just keeps getting worse.

Good question for Maggie. See also #65 in this thread. Someone should post it as a standalone.

Well of course there is no evidence of child abuse and never will be because FLDS does not define beating children and forcing girls to have sex with old geezers as abuse.

I saw this on the daily thread, where I was about to post it until I saw it was there already.

Under no circumstances will Dr. Barlow be able to provide adequate proof that he either didn’t know or had good reason not to report these fractures. I hope his licenses are yanked from all 3 states.

Link Description

Bill would shield children of polygamists

February 1, 2008

Lujan's bill has not yet made it into law. Flora Jessop is working as advisor to Lujan.

State lawmakers are trying to make it more difficult for at least some of those who practice polygamy to get custody of their children in divorce cases.

Without dissent, the House Committee on Human Services on Thursday approved legislation barring judges from granting sole or even joint custody to a parent who has practiced child bigamy. The only exception would be if a court determined there is "no significant risk to the child."

HB2009 would impose similar restrictions against granting unsupervised visitation.

State law already makes it a crime for anyone who is already married to wed a child, whether that second - or subsequent - wedding is recognized by the state or solely by a religion. But Flora Jessup, an advocate for women forced into multiple marriages, said the 2004 law is not really enforced.

Rep. David Lujan, D-Phoenix, said some women in polygamous relationships do try to leave. In fact, he said the conviction in Utah last year of Warren Jeffs, leader of the Fundamentalist Church of Latter Day Saints, of violating rape laws by arranging plural marriages of minors, may encourage others to get out of these plural marriages.

"But when they leave the polygamous communities, the first thing they do is they go to court and try to get custody of their children,'' Lujan said. "And we're still seeing courts that are awarding custody to the fathers who are engaging in bigamy."

Mohave County Supervisor Buster Johnson urged lawmakers to approve the measure.

"For the past 10 years I've worked with these victims," he told committee members.

"These vicious abusers of the cults have manipulated our court system to continue the cycle against these victims and our children," Johnson said. "This will be one more tool that can be used in hopefully breaking that cycle."

-SNIP-

Lujan had a proposal last year to do that but ran into opposition from residents of the community of Centennial Park, a polygamous community near - but unrelated - to Jeffs' FLDS community of Colorado City.

If someone wants to it might be a good thing. Everyone talks about the percentage of broken bones being close to the norm, but they can’t say that about the sexually abused boys!

Miz, in looking further into this, I'm not sure about posting a separate thread. Here is the article:

"AUSTIN (AP) ― Texas officials have told legislators they're looking at the possible sexual abuse of some young boys taken from the polygamist sect's ranch.

In a written update provided to lawmakers Wednesday, the state Child Protective Services division says it is looking into possible sexual abuse of boys based on interviews and journal entries.

I will wait until there is some confirmation that actual sex abuse has been found before posting a thread on it.GF

If you ask a child how they broke a bone and they refuse to tell you, sirens should go off in your head. My son has a scar on his head and he tells everyone how he got it.

A public outcry is what Maggie said she is looking for.

"Has America lost their feeling?" she said. "Can they not look at people and feel what they really are? How can somebody look at me or any of our people, our ladies, our pure children and actually be so stupid and insensitive to consider that those allegations would be correct?

Hey Maggie, many Americans have trouble with a cult who condones vile perverts like Warren Jeffs & his followers (you) who do vile things to children & marry off minor teenage girls to be child brides to old horny goats so more females can be born. Most of us have a problem with the Loving families of the FLDS dumping the Lost Boys out of your cult. And may of us are plainly outraged that the FLDS has no problem with Bleeding the Beast!!! As for this.....actually be so stupid and insensitive to consider that those those allegations would be correct... Do please explain the number of teenage pregnancies that are coming out of your FLDS cult! I seem to remember you ladies wringing your hands & your fake tears saying no child brides that you knew of....

So no this American, Pandoraou812 will do no public outcry for you nor your FLDS religion. In fact I hope the lot of you get jailed. You have allowed your children to be sexually abused, you allow close relatives to inbreed causing birth defects to innocent babies, you have taken from the taxpayers & you have lied to CPS & the media. Your people are happy to take our money yet you refuse to obey the laws of this country. Now the very people who the FLDS look down upon want a public outcry? Thats laughable. IMHO you are ignorant asking us to help you & the FLDS while at the same time saying Americans can actually be so stupid and insensitive! ps Can you let us know how Warren Jeffs aka the FLDS Prophet is enjoying jail?

I wasn’t talking about sexual abuse. Just physical.

Were you meaning to post to MIZ instead of me?
