TORONTO, May 2 (UPI) -- Nearly 80,000 Ontario teens in grades seven to 12 report participating in the "choking game," or getting high through strangling, a survey indicated.
The 2007 Ontario Student Drug Use and Health Survey revealed approximately 7 percent of Ontario junior high and high school students reported participating in the thrill-seeking activity, which involves self-asphyxiation or having been choked by someone else on purpose.

also if they did follow through all the way, me thinks the participation will drop off
gads are you kidding me?? I can’t even stand to wear turtleneck sweaters! I can barely handle necklaces.. can’t imagine doing this for fun! yikes! crazy darn kids!
Send them all to a third world country to help the poor for 6 months. That should do it.
Kids did this when I was in Jr. High some 25+ years ago, and I doubt it was new then.
Heck, I learned about it at church!
And I thought huffing spray paint fumes was bad. IOnce I accidently took a large whiff and I could swear I saw jesus.
This doesn’t seem like a big deal. All the kids in my neighborhood pulled this dorky stunt back in the 70s. After doing it a few times, we all had headaches, so we never did it again.
Just kids being stupid. They’re good at that.
The gene pool has become artificially polluted by ‘nanny state’ legislation. This is natural selection’s way of thinning the herd.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Yah, I was thinking the same thing - “so-and-so did this back when I was in school, too!”
Of course back then, it wasn’t Bush’s fault, it was Reagan’s fault. /sarc
uhhh....it’s not just for fun. Or at least not the normal kind.
Nice to see a sensible "biological" perspective, even if somewhat tongue-in-cheek.
Seriously though -- our gene pool stinks these days. Something's gotta give.
I did this as a kid in elementary school...now I have drain bamage.
South Park is always ahead of trends.
I never actually did it. Even at a young age I could figure out that cutting off the supply of oxygen to the brain was likely a bad idea.
Most of the kids I knew who did it really didn’t have the brain cells to spare.
There were deaths in the seventies. Teenage boys hanging from their closet rods.
Do you have a soft spot on your head?
My brother’s best friend died this way.
Warn your kids.
I wonder how many of those kids say they’re doing that stuff, when they really aren’t, just to yank the chains of the folks doing the survey.
These aren’t the summa cum laude candidates is my guess.
