BALTIMORE (AP) As Maryland's white population shrinks, the number of minorities, and particularly Latinos, continues to increase, according to U.S. Census Bureau Figures released Thursday.
The figures indicate non-Hispanic whites in Maryland decreased by 21,428 between 2006 and 2007, while the Latino population of all races increased by 17,779.
Latinos now make up slightly more than 6 percent of the state's 5.6 million people, whose overall numbers inched up marginally in last year.
Whites represent 63.6 percent of Maryland's population, African-Americans 29.5 percent and Asians 5 percent.
''Maryland has been changing for a while, and these numbers reflect that continuing trend,'' said Audrey Singer, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution.
The growth of the Hispanic population in absolute terms in Maryland has exceeded the growth of the non-Hispanic population for the past three years.
''It's a pretty dramatic difference if you're looking over the course of the decade,'' said Mark Goldstein, an economist with the Maryland Department of Planning.
Much of the growth in the Latino population can be attributed to immigration, Goldstein said. And, the number of minority births in Maryland has been creeping up since the beginning of the decade. During the past two years, minority births exceeded those of non-minorities.
Most children younger than 5 in Maryland are minorities, and public schools are majority-minority, meaning that minorities make up more than 50 percent of that population.
''That's your work force for the future. The work force will be far more diverse,'' said Dunbar Brooks, data development manager at the Baltimore Metropolitan Council.
Brooks describes the increase in the Chesapeake region's Latino population as a natural outgrowth of its relative economic health and closeness to the nation's capital.
Despite a downturn in the housing market, he said, the local economy was fairly robust until recently. Construction has provided jobs for many Latino immigrants, Brooks said, and word has gotten around about the region's desirability. ''As communities grow and thrive, they become attractive in and of themselves,'' he said.
If minorities only make up 35% of the population but are 50%+ of public schools, it means one of several things:
1. Whites aren’t having kids
2. Whites who do have kids homeschool or send to private school
3. Whites have kids, but minorities just outbreed them
AS long as they are all American Citizens, I see no problem.
Except that many of them do NOT love America. I hate to prejudge, but statistically speaking...they’re a lot more likely to be an Obama supporter than any sort of conservative.

Let's see the high school and college graduation rates. My bet is that the "work force" from this population is more unskilled labor with a poor education. Just have a look at California for a preview of what is coming.
Try high taxes, and people of means (most are white) are leaving the state.
The reason for the loss of white population in MD is easy enough to figure out. Liberal Democrats have controlled the state for a couple of decades now, taxing the hell out of anyone who earns a decent living .. so, they flee. Unfortunately, many Marylanders come to VA because of the high taxes there, and start to vote Democrat here!
You’re right. Here in Prince George’s County (wraps around the east side of DC), the graduation rate is between 40-60%, depending on who’s talking. That 17,000 increase in Latinos is just a about a mile or two from where I live, and the vast majority of those never got into high school in whatever part of Latin America they came from. Except for race (which is what the libs are looking at, after all), the workforce is getting more and more uniformly uneducated, unskilled, and undisciplined.
As counties and towns in Virginia start to crackdown on illegal aliens, they are moving over to Maryland, a sanctuary state.

These libs don’t even realize that as soon as the Hispanics become 51% they will have no use for Democrats either.
NJ remains the state with the highest median income largely due to the fact that we still get the spillover from wealthy Manhattanites who choose to breed, and the fact that we have the wealthiest immigrant population (affected disproportionately by Koreans and East Indians) in the US.
I get confused with these type of reports because Hispanics are white or black, depending on the position of Mercury in regards to Uranus, and if the month has a ‘y’ in it.
So we have ‘non-white’ Hispanics, ‘white non-Hispanics’ and then Latinos. But I don’t think I’ve ever seen a reference to ‘white Hispanics’. Is that taboo?
So then what happens if a ‘white Hispanic’ marries a ‘white’. Are they then ‘white’, ‘white Hispanic’ or ‘white-white Hispanic’?
I would guess that most of the Latinos in Maryland are mestizos (Amerindian and European mix), not white.
Also remember that race in Latin America is very fluid, and very subjective. 89% of the population of Puto, er, Puerto Rico identifies itself as being "white" when most of its inhabitants are actually racially mixed (African/European, with some Amerindian and Filipino blood).

Did you know that most (all?) states and the Feds will not report Hispanic criminals as Hispanic? They are classified as ‘white’.
I suppose I was trying to point out that the MSM, the Feds, etc., are always so politcally correct that half the time THEY don’t know what to call them.

I should say crimes committed by Hispanic criminals as opposed to the criminals themselves are classified as ‘white’ crime.

I have two female homeowner neighbors, both are child bearing age neither are married living with their partners. Neither plan on having kids. That seems to be the norm here.
While the neigborhood 3 block s away filled with duplexes are loaded with Hispanic families crammed into two bedroom units having 4 or more kids toa family in a two bedroom apt.
I would bet that if illegals children were NOT given automatic citizenship you would not see this kind of birthrate. In their minds the more kids you have that are citizens the better chance you have of staying. It costs them NOTHING to have children. Maternity, FREE, baby food FREE, clothing FREE schooling FREE, school supplies FREE, school breakfast and lunch FREE, pediatrician FREE, dentist FREE, housing next to nothing because they live 5 families to a dwelling. Add all that up for a citizen and it is a good chunk of change. Why not pop em out as fast as you can.

Looking at the number of anchor babies and out-of-wedlock births among minorities, I can’t for a minute believe that the birthrate of minorities is anything other than “whoops...we forgot the condoms” and is most definitely not patriotism-driven or Christian values-driven. It happens like this too often in whites too to be fair.
It seems that the people having large numbers of kids today are either the Duggars in Arkansas (God bless them but 17 kids is excessive on the other side of this coin) or welfare pimps, anchor baby welfare moms, and common “accidental” pregnancies.

I’ll take a few guesses:
Vermont - we will increasingly see whites of means fleeing northward.
The Dakotas
Montana - the “Vermont of the West”, probably Wyoming as well.
West Virginia - few illegals seem interested in the place. I think in the next few decades, WV will become even “whiter” as Euro-Americans from surrounding states migrate there, to be amongst others “like themselves”.
I think Maine will hold steady in the Northeast as well.
As far as living in New Jersey goes, unless you are tied down to the place by your job, who would want to live THERE? (I remember spending time in Jersey in the ‘80’s, and even back then it seemed like “the place to get out of”)....

Other than the property taxes, corruption and fascistic gun laws, its really not a bad place to live if you have the money and live in the right town.
BTW: I always thought that the main reason WV doesn’t market itself more as a retirement community is that its budget is already stretched supporting the oldest state population on a per capita basis.
Bingo. At least, most of the illegals are. But race isn't the problem; poverty behaviors and crime among illegals (requiring vast expenditures by taxpaying legal citizens of all races) are the problems.
But the Duggars pay their own way. I read that they do not take welfare.

I am totally confused about calling Latinos “non-whites”. I guess these so-called experts do that to make it more convenient for the pro-illegals to call us racist.
Most of them are partly white. There are White Hispanics, and non-white Hispanics (Mestizos) who are of mixed Amerindian, Spanish (White) and sometimes Black ancestry.
Most Cubans are considered White. Most Mexicans that immigrate to the US are mestizos.
You forgot about the Mormons in Utah and their high birth rate.
