Has America lost a step? Without a doubt, and much of that decline can be directly attributed to leftist policies. Having said that, Newsweak, along with leftists simply cannot grasp that this great experiment called the United States is foremost about liberty and freedom. The United States is truly “the shining city on the hill”.

Leftists and their allies around the globe do indeed hate us, but we are the first ones they call in their time of need. As Ann Coulter has said, “The natural state of the world is Darfur. The freakish aberration is America...”

I’m sure it’s a generation thing for her—probaly has been reading it since its inception, along with newspapers.

IF and IF that is true we have the lefties and spineless “conservatives” to thank for it.

LOL...

You are right, plus the Metric system just sounds lame. I mean watching football and hearing “it's 3rd down and 3 meters to go” or “hey kids it's just 6 more kilometers to Grandma's house” or “Hell man I shot that dear from 75 meters away” would make me want to pull a yuppie from a Volvo and punch them...

No telling how I would feel if someone asked me to pick up a “liter” of Jack Daniels on the way over to a party, that's just not right...

As Ann Coulter has said, “The natural state of the world is Darfur. The freakish aberration is America...”

That's good!

Thx for the post! I have some faith in McCain, but, otherwise, I agree.

When I was in graduate school in 1980, the rage was “the zero-sum society” a concept championed by Lester Thurow. His thesis was that America’s decline wa inevtable as the rest of the underdeveloped world improved, as there were only so many esources to go around. It may have seemed that way when Jimmy Carter was president, LoL.

I’d be happy to donate if it went back to what it was 30 years ago.

I have to agree. Unless you mean in comparison to other countries.

You could just be like me. Nobody tells me to pick up a bottle of anything on the way to a party if they want me to arrive safely...

That’s what I thought. I’ve always thought that quote would make a great tag...line. Er, never mind.

re: Thurow

Yes, I was undergrad around the same time and another favorite author for some of my lefty profs was “The Social Limits to Growth” by Fred Hirsch..... looking back now, it seems that according to that book much of the past 27 years consisted of performing “impossible” tasks of growth because we were already pressing up against the “limits” of all possible growth in the late ‘70s (the book was published around ‘78, IIRC).

We should be nearly out of all important resources by now and so blighted by declining quality of life that contemporary life is simply unbearable.

If I get there, home is closer...

Yes we are in decline. The best students in our math and science programs at universities are all asians and indians. How many White Americans would you see enrolled in such programs nowadays?

I am comfortable with the US being considered second-rate or beyond our prime. Let’s just be sure to hold onto all that foreign aid and assistance other nations, including the United Nations since we aren’t “exceptional” anymore.
