Schneider: The electability argument falls flat ("Cankles" Clinton is headed o-u-t OUT, baybeeeee!)
CNN Political Ticker ^ | 05/06/2008 | Bill Schneider

Posted on 05/06/2008 9:38:20 PM PDT by KentTrappedInLiberalSeattle

(CNN) — The core of Hillary Clinton’s argument to superdelegates has been her electability – that she is the candidate most likely to beat presumptive Republican nominee John McCain in November. But according to exit polls, voters don’t share that view.

In Indiana, Democratic primary voters were equally split over who was most likely to beat McCain, with both drawing 48 percent. And in North Carolina, voters gave the edge to Barack Obama: 54 percent thought he was more likely to win in November, while 40 percent [...]

Hussein Osama has only proved that he can win the most democrat votes in Republican states where dem turnout is minimal. Hope he gets the nomination.

The bad news: Obama will likely become the next president of the United States.

We despaired the same of Hillary and I'm surprised at the relative ease with which she was dispatched (killed from within, no less).

The next months will be difficult but not impossible.

And don't forget, there's plenty of 527/Swiftboat money out there too.

I'm mildly optimistic that Hillary can be neutered when she's a non-candidate (an angry behind-the-scenes loser-- can you imagine!?).

And a guy who counts Rev. Wright AND Bill Ayers as his ideological mentors has to have a bottomless well of stupidity to dredge up.

Oh, you're both 110% right, doubtless. FReepers who genuinely believe that a young, charismatic speaker with $115mil already socked away in the bank and a rabidly, slaveringly devoted voting base might somehow conceivably lose to Old Man Juan are, plainly, watching some odd, "other" electoral process, with entirely "other" candidates running, than this one, no question...

... but, still: I, for one, simply can't keep a wide, Joker-esque leer of purest, unalloyed joy from spreading across my mug, as I think of just how bleakly and unremittingly full of suck Hillary's evening must be, right about now.

Call me petty, by all means, if you like... but: I'm feelin' it, all the same. ;)

No , Its an old media PR scam! The Obama people told the Gary ID mayor to hold off finishing the count to tarnish Hillary victory . Its an old scam and meant to hurt her chances with the super delegates ! Hillary won it.

How did the Obama sleaze machine push out all the Clintonistas at CNN?

As stated earlier, in this very thread: folks hereabouts have been Guilty And Then Some of virtually criminal underestimation of Barack Obama, and the very real electoral threat he poses, practically since the first 'rat primaries/caucuses in New Hampshire, etc.

Is he scum...? Yes. Is he a dangerous, wild-eyed socialist radical? Absolutely. Is he (potentially) an infinitely cannier, more capable political "natural" than either Bill or Cankles ever DREAMED of being...? You damned BETCHA!

His organization has now signed up, by rough estimate, somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.5 M-I-L-L-I-O-N brand, spanking new voters over the past half year or so -- all of 'em fanatically sworn and devoted to their gleaming, fairy tale Obamessiah.

As some other 'Rat politician put it, just the other day, upon hearing that for the first time (don't remember if it was Fat Teddy, or not; I think maybe it was Fat Teddy): "That's not a 'voting base'; that's a political PARTY."

MEGA-ugly, come November. Bookmark it, by all means.

McStain will not close the border. In my estimation, not holding the responsibility when the next mass death from muslim terrorists occurs is more important even than judicial nominations (where he would also submit leftists).

I believe it is quite possible the next attack will ignite a civil war. If it happens, let it be connected to the donkeys.

Not that there is any chance I would vote for a liberal regardless of the letter preceding the name.

I respectfully disagree. If we were just talking about the young voters who are always supposed to show up but never do, then I’d agree, but Obama is energizing African Americans like never before. I’ve never seen that group so motivated. McCain isn’t going to motivate anyone.

I hope I’m wrong.

Yes, assuming black vote goes to Obama by 94-6 or so, and represents 13-14% of total turnout (this is high, but gonna happen this time), Obama can lose the white vote by 15% and still win the election.
I think in the end he loses the white vote 45-55 and wins the election by 3 or 4 points.

See this from the Blogosphere (Flopping Aces ):

Obama Wins NC- Update: Obama Wants To Talk To al-Qaeda

*************************EXCERPT***********************

UPDATE

Obama gave his victory speech in NC and began it with his usual divisive talk about the rich and the poor…..and then accuses the right of being divisive THEN to top it all off he stated that Roosevelt talked to Hitler and Tojo.

********************************SNIP*************************

~~~
The other side can label and name-call all they want, but I trust the American people to recognize that it’s not surrender to end the war in Iraq so that we can rebuild our military and go after al Qaeda’s leaders. I trust the American people to understand that it’s not weakness, but wisdom to talk not just to our friends, but our enemies – like Roosevelt did, and Kennedy did, and Truman did.
How else to interpret this then he wants to talk to al-Qaeda?
Hillary couldn't even win outright in Indiana. That's not a state that's going to go Dem anyway in November. So where is the "electability" argument?
D) all of the above
