For Clinton, quitting is not an option
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | 5/7/8 | Carla Marinucci

Screaming tabloid headlines have declared her campaign "Over!" and calls for her withdrawal from the race are mounting, but Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton - despite lackluster primary results this week - has put out her own steely message: She's not going anywhere.

"I'm staying in this race until there's a nominee, and, obviously, I am going to work as hard as I can to become that nominee," the New York senator said at a Shepherdstown, W.Va., news conference today. "I believe that I'm the stronger candidate against Sen. McCain. And I believe I would be the best president among the three of us running. So we will continue to contest these elections and move forward."

In the aftermath of a momentum-sapping week that appeared to turn the tide in her 18-month battle against Illinois Sen. Barack Obama, Clinton acknowledged that she will need some hefty assists to keep her hopes for the White House alive: more campaign cash; more support from critical, uncommitted superdelegates; more wins in the primaries ahead; and a favorable resolution on seating contested delegates from Florida and Michigan.

Averell "Ace" Smith, who ran Clinton's campaign in North Carolina - she was defeated by double digits there Tuesday - said today that for Clinton, quitting is not an option.

"People expect her to battle on. . . .

I can imagine having a shred of respect for Obama, but not for Hillary. Some pundits are speculating that she is implicitly asking for the VP slot as her price for dropping out. I would lose the ability to have even a shred of respect for Obama if he were stupid enough to take her up on it.

she has no need for “goodwill” anyway. She will serve one more term in the senate and call it a day. She figures she has nothing to lose.

Have the pundits been right about a single thing ?
Hillary read the exit polls in NC and ID and saw the white dem voters were hers and fear Obama.
That the dirty little secret of yesterday election that the pundits are hiding.

Some think that she knows it’s over and is just mouthing the words that she’s in until the end, staying in until all the primaries are over so she can get her campaign debt paid.

I, OTOH, think she’s still in because she is one psycho b-word, and still believes that she has a chance.

...still believes that she has a chance.

She can win three ways. BH Obama is scandalized and quits, Obama is defamed so badly that the super delegates think is totally unelectable and three an accident - perhaps a slip on the wet floor of the bath room or plan crash or a visit to Fort Marcy Park.

I am sure that Hillary has considered all three options - oh and there is a forth way, bribe, threaten or otherwise coerce the super delegates to vote for her - but that may be too expensive - murder is cheaper and then she could blame on evil republicans.

Evil cackle HA HA Ha ha...
The precious must have the precious - youz stole it from us..

Actually, I’ve never had any respect for the woman until recently. It’s a shame sheer testicular fortitude and chutzpah are her only assets.

Ya know I was looking up something and Bill/Hill name kept coming up in my searches.

Bill had a Doc traveling with him 2yrs after the quad bypass (may still be with him) for FREE.

The doc was a humble practitioner who said he didnt mind working for awhile for nothing as he was able to travel and exp so much.

This is a guy who rode his rickety peddle bike to the office/hospital.

Also read that Clintons built a guest like house on the property and had the govt pay the rent for the SS agents. Which is normal for SS agents renting in the neighborhood of their subject but on the actuall property and Clintons wanted rent

IOW Clintons seem to be kind of extreme nickel rubbers or smootchers so yeah I agree with your post.

Bill BTW really should put his O2 on at night he is showing signs of pulomonary issues and some o2 therapy would really help him.

He is stubborn.

Could help him from stroking out or having heart issues and dying in his sleep if he took that lil extra measure. JMO

I’d forgotten about the SS people and the rent, but it all came back to me-you’re right, they are tighter than hell with a buck, and we’re talking MILLIONS here-so something to keep in mind. I don’t know if Bill’s going to hang on much longer.
