FNC Assistant Fired for Telling McCain He has Her Vote
TVNewser ^ | 5/9/08 | TVNewser

Posted on 05/09/2008 11:28:27 AM PDT by GPSkins

TVNewser Exclusive: A 24-year-old Fox News Channel production assistant was fired this morning for something she said during the red carpet arrivals at the Time 100 Gala last night. Insiders tell us the assistant, identified as Jennifer Locke, was on assignment with a camera crew to cover the entertainment angle of the event. When Sen. John McCain walked by, the assistant said, "I voted for you in the primary, you're going to win." McCain was overheard saying to her, "You're not supposed to reveal that." Locke apparently continued to explain that she is the daughter of Vietnam veteran. Insiders who were at the event were surprised and shocked to hear the disclosure, which was recorded on videotape. A Fox News insider called it "journalistically unacceptable." An FNC spokesperson would not comment on the personnel matter but did confirm Locke is no longer with the company, where she'd worked for a couple of years.

Wow, is this serious? Apparently a low-level FNC assistant commented to John McCain during a red carpet event that she had voted for him in the primary - a comment that McCain was quick to rebuke. I mean, I guess it is bad for a journalist to reveal anything less than objective views on political matters (other than communist Olbermann), but come on, do you think she should have been fired??

If she’d said the same thing to Hillary or Obama, there’d have been no problem. She has my sympathy—though now she has a chance to get a real job, something of which she can be proud.

I sure hope this isn’t true. Fox better get ready for a blood letting because because many have revealed their party preference through donations.

The assistant doesn’t even sound like she was an on air personality. Her stance is not presented to the viewers.

No other journalists are biased. Now that they fired this one, the profession is again 100% pure.

Whew. That was a close one.

(If McCain had dangly anatomical objects instead of an anatomical object shaped like a baseball glove, he might want to tell Fox to give the woman her job back.)

A Fox News insider called it "journalistically unacceptable."

What a joke Faux News is. The Buttf$%^ Boys Fred and Mort were in the tank for McRino since day 1, crapping on Thompson and Romney at every turn during the primary coverage, and nothing happened to either of those losers. But a production assistant who probably has no say in content gets fired for this?

I think it’s a bunch of bullcrap to be fired for something you say outside of your job environment. Sure, I can see being fired for saying something unseemly about your boss, but this is ridiculous.

There is only a tiny percentage among news folks who are Repubs. Fox is just pulling weeds.

I don't know what it takes for people to get the picture. Dems dominate the war of ideas because they control the battlefields themselves; they control the infrastructure.

News media, entertainment media, public schools and universities, all dominated by Dems. If you're a Repub, you either don't get hired, or you keep a very low profile. Its pointless to complain about the media being biased toward the DNC when the fact is that the media is the DNC.

Until we face that and do something about it we are shouting from the bottom of a well. Let your enemy define the issues, define you, write the history, teach your kids, and then wonder why you can't win. You can't persuade anyone if they can't hear you, and they can't hear you if you're borrowing your enemy's microphone on his terms.

This lady needs to get herself a good lawyer and go after Fox for wrongful termination. She is NOT a “journalist”, on-air personality, etc. and she was not speaking for Fox News, but only for herself.

I believe she has good grounds for a case.

Just imagine a world where conservatives really had a level playing field. The left has the biggest megaphone and still repeatedly fails. Even before talk radio they had difficulty with their message. I’ve always said that conservatives need to provide an alternative. Not some kind of freakish alternative but simply an alternative that doesn’t trash the US at every turn that is openly patriotic and is profamily etc.

Look at NBC’s donor list:

But I think it would be easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for John McCain to choose a conservative running mate.

Until the advent of the Associated Press in the middle of the Nineteenth Century, newspapers were openly partisan affairs. Hamilton and Jefferson each sponsored a newspaper to politically attack the other - and that was not considered untoward at all.

But the Associated Press was a monopoly, and as such it naturally raised some eyebrows early on. But the AP responded to that challenge by asserting that "we have newspapers of all stripes of opinion; we're not biased, we're objective."

Apart from the blatant hubris of claiming the wisdom to be able to be objective, the fallacy in that was the fact that the editorial page content was no longer the most important opinion expressed in an AP newspaper. Those famously contradictory political opinions were overshadowed by the planted axiom of AP journalism - that all journalists were objective. That is, it no longer made business sense for newspapers to compete on the accuracy of their coverage; to that extent they were no longer competitors. Any more than the Yankees and the Red Sox are competitors when they are trying to promote attendance at baseball games. Any more than ABC News and NBC News tried to run CBS News out of the business over the 60 Minutes episode using of the fraudulent "Killian Memos . . . and subsequent stonewalling."

There will always be a market for those who need their news strained through a conservative screen. Otherwise, how would they know what to think or what opinion to have?

Babies eat strained food because they have no teeth. People watch strained news because they have no brains.

I enjoy conservative commentary. That said, I’ll take my news, read factual accounts of world events, unfiltered, black, no sugar, thank you. I’m intelligent enough to digest it.
