FBI video shows powerful explosion at San Diego courthouse

SAN DIEGO (AP) - The FBI has released surveillance video of a powerful pipe bomb explosion that shattered big windows at a federal courthouse and filled the lobby with smoke.

FBI spokesman Darrell Foxworth says the agency hopes anyone with information about the explosion early Sunday feels compelled to contact investigators after seeing the video.

The bomb caused significant damage to the lobby but no injuries, and forced the courthouse to close for one day.

The FBI recovered more than 100 nails and shrapnel up to two blocks from the courthouse, Foxworth says.

Investigators believe the bomb may be linked to a blast April 25 that shattered the glass door of a FedEx building in San Diego.

The FBI has no suspects, Foxworth says.

From the looks of the video - this was the location where the public gathers to be selected for jury duty.

I’m stunned if that’s true, because I was just there - having been called for jury duty.

Years ago I almost had a direct run-in with a homemade shotgun shell bomb. It was encased in a bag of nails and other nasties.

This was out in Provo UT. I found out later from the investigator that it was just one Mormon polygamist mailing a bomb to another Mormon polygamist over a woman ~ and was fairly typical of what that crowd likes to do to each other (not that Mormons, per se, like to send bombs, but the polygamists are not very nice to competing males).

BTW, they caught that perp quickly ~ he'd put his name and address on the package!

Now, back to this sort of bomb showing up in a federal courthouse in San Diego ~ I'd certainly look into interpersonal relationships among the staff for some clues.

Since the Federal Court House in San Diego is one of the busiest in the nation everything from Drug Cartels to terrorist connected with 9/11 group to elected federal officials. There are a lot of high profile cases that go on there.

The city also has everything from ecoWackos to others that have committed terror tactics

But from their famous profiling they are reasonably sure it has to be the work of a white male Christian conservative and probably with the first name of Bob, Jim, Dave or Tom.
