Exactly correct. A hit with a smaller caliber gun is 100% better than a miss witha larger caliber one cannot handle.
Also, most “self defense” people think tehy can defend themselves. From experience, I can tell you once the adrenaline hits your bnlood stream, it is all muscle memory, not fine motor control. Also, only well experienced combatants can decide to stand and fight back with deliberate, precisely aimed fire. It takes a lot of “poo poo hitting the fan” time to figure out that you will die only when it is your time, not every time something bad happens (however, it could be this one...).
Pentration is very important, but my expeience with 9mm ball -lots of penetration, very little “stopping” effect.
12 ga 00 buck is mo’ better.
My personal compromise is a top flite 40 cal 150/165 out of my carry gun, a 200 grn 45 out of my house gun (back up to a CAR 15 w/ 50 grn Varmint bullets).
I wonder how many years of school it took to write that mess?
