Showing solidarity with the country during its 60th anniversary celebrations, American actor Jon Voight visited Israel and spent time with terror victims and their families.
The actor was visibly moved while playing with children whose fathers were killed in suicide bombings and said Israel should not negotiate with the Palestinians. He called Palestinian terrorists barbarians who spat on Israeli peacemaking attempts.
Voight is one of many international figures in Israel at the moment to participate in celebrations marking the 60th anniversary of the Jewish state's modern rebirth.

They sure do act it. No country for you.
I love Jon Voight. One of the few prominent Americans willing to show some courage and tell it like it is.
They do love death, don’t they?
I say, give it to ‘em.
He called it right on this one.

“Barbarians”? ....hmmm..
Psychotic interbred lunatics...
works better for me.
There’s already a Palestinian state occupying more than 2/3 of Palestine. It’s called Jordan.
He has definitely become more conservative. And with her recent comments about Iraq, looks like his daughter, Angelina Jolie, may be headed down the same thought process.
Yep they should go to there and stop pretending to have a country in either Gaza or the West Bank.
Yup, he showed some backbone. There goes his movie career.
Jon Voight the periodontist?
Nice salute. Well, they were trained by ex-Nazi’s back in the late 40’s and early 50’s.
How about “psychotic barbarian inbred lunatics”.....
He is one of a very small number of people in Hollyweird who demonstrates intelligence.
Well SOMEBODY gets it...
Not only do I not have any doubt, but I see them as the reemergence of the facism we defeated during WWII (after all the Islamo-facists who were helping the Germans were never held to account for their activities in that war).
That was John Voight, the periodontist, who drove a Le Baron convertible, IIRC.
Okay.
I can live with that definition.
However, I keep thinking that there must be some pre-historic version of evil that makes Barbarians look like wimps.
That would would work better!

"Dammit, Derek, I'm a coal miner, not a professional film or television actor."
LOL, love that movie. Good for Mr. Voight. If only our own government had that stance.
That would be JOHN Voight, the periodontist.
Here is a definition of barbarians which might work:
“Barbarian” is a pejorative term for an uncivilized, uncultured person, either in a general reference to a member of a nation or ethnos perceived as having an inferior level of civilization, or in an individual reference to a brutal, cruel, warlike, insensitive person whose behaviour is unacceptable in the society of the speaker
On behalf of my barbarian ancestors, I protest!
One well placed round in the forehead!
What did Jolie say?
Her screen name may be “Jolie,” but she’s far from the best looking babe in Hollywood, in my opinion. What are her politics - or do I have to ask?
Great definition of a Barbarian, Thanks.
Not low enough for a sand dab though.
Think Darwinism and the food chain.!!!
I agree with him. The Pali’s must lose.
There was a time when the Pali cause might have been supportable even if only in part. But no more.
Any cause that sends its children into pizza parlors with explosives intended only to dismember innocent children... MUST lose. It CANNOT be allowed to succeed on any level. Their methods have intervened and nullified their cause. The Pali’s must now only be defeated, and utterly.
It was posted here not too long ago. Even Rush praised her.
I see I’ve been beaten by many. Drat! ;-)
I saw him on Glenn Beck recently. Not only has he become more conservative, but he described his beliefs in his liberal days as being misguided. He said he thought (as did other leftists of the time) that if the Viet Nam war ended, the north and south would unite as brothers. However, history proved him wrong. Unlike many of his Hollywood brethren, Voight grew up and learned to think and discern for himself. It is not often that one hears such a person denounce his former beliefs.
I'll believe this when i hear it coming out of her mouth...any ways, i don't think Jolie even likes her dad??? Although i could be wrong on this one.
As a music person, I’ve long been a fan of Jon’s brother, Chip Taylor. I had kinda taken it for granted that Jon was a typical Hollywood leftie, and was shocked (and delighted) to see him interviewed a couple weeks ago and learn he was nothing of the sort. (Is that the reason his wacko daughter doesn’t speak to him???)
How does Voight get acting jobs in Hollywood?
***...shes far from the best looking babe in Hollywood, in my opinion. ***
She’ll do in a pinch.
Jon Voight made a movie in 1974, that was pro Jewish and pro Israel-The Odessa File. I have watched that movie several times and is very good
He spoke at the Freedom Concert in San Diego last summer and said some very patriotic things. He also gave a genuine heartfelt thanks to our troops in the audience and to all who serve America. I didn’t realize there were any real patriots left in Hollyweird. He was a real gentleman.
I’ve been a fan ever since seeing The Champ, one of the biggest tearjerkers of all time.
I didn’t know there was a movie made of it. I read the book long ago (first political thriller I ever read).
She said her experience in Iraq was not what was portrayed in the media (essentially) and that the Surge did appear to be working and that to leave would be disastrous and immoral.
Her father has also hinted that she is somewhat pro-life in her own beliefs and not at all orthodox Hollywood liberal.
This was a big post on FR, I’m surprised you missed it.

If memory serves me correct, the last BIG acting role Mr. Voight had was as Pope John Paul II in a what I believed was a CBS mini-series. That was the one I do believed was presented to the present Pope just before it came out in America.
He was in the "National Treasure" movies.
“On behalf of my barbarian ancestors, I protest!”
Yeah, really. I mean, Voight is giving barbarians a bad name, comparing them to Palestinians. Geez.
Voight is a churchgoing Catholic.
