FBI Monitoring 'Incident' At Ridley Township Plant
RIDLEY TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS3/AP) ― Boeing Rotorcraft Systems temporarily shut down a production line for several hours Tuesday at its suburban Philadelphia plant because of possible irregularities discovered in two military helicopters.
The company disclosed few specifics about why the shutdown of the H-47 Chinook helicopter line at the plant in Ridley Township, Pa., occurred. It said an investigation was under way and it was working with the Defense Contract Management Agency, which oversees military suppliers.
Boeing officials said they discovered "irregularities" in two of the aircrafts that were being assembled at the plant. The nature of the irregularities was not immediately known.
Jack Satterfield, a company spokesman, said workers were expected to report for work Wednesday, even as the investigation continued.
Rep. Joe Sestak, a Democrat whose district includes the plant, said he was told during a briefing that wires that appeared to be broken or severed were found in one helicopter and a suspicious washer was found in a second.
Sestak said the assessment was preliminary and he expects that the findings of a more thorough review would be available on Wednesday. He praised Boeing's handling of the situation, and said it was much too early to speculate on what happened.
Satterfield said the shutdown was isolated to the line at the Pennsylvania plant and does not affect operational aircraft.
The Chinook is known as the Army's workhorse aircraft. It is used to transport troops and supplies.
Boeing is currently producing new Chinooks for the Army, as well as updating older models.
A message left Tuesday evening with the Defense Contract Management Agency was not immediately returned.

Hmmm..an anti-war mole?
bttt
Keep a close eye on anyone named (fill in the blank): __________.
You racist!!!
Maybe Boeing is angry about losing the air tanker deal?

Immediate lie detector and intensive background screening for anyone who could possibly have had access to the area where the “sabotage” occurred.
And when the “saboteur” is found, take steps to ensure he/she will never be able to commit such an act ever again.
There’s anti-war wackos nuts enough to do something like that but you wouldn’t think they’d be on a Boeing assembly line.
Just make sure the Jesus nut is on nice and tight.
Meaning it was not part of the Bill of Materials.
Was this washer transponding?
I wonder if one of the workers won't show up, and will next be seen in the Middle East or Iran.
May be a case of someone sabotaging someone else’s career on the assembly line.

Well, remember there were Muslims in the military out sabotaging things. Remember the Muslim helicopter mechanic who was involved in one of the crashes early in the war? Something like 17 people were killed in it.
But there was some justice: He was one of them, because at the last minute there was need for another crew member. He virtually had to be forced onto the plane, obviously because he knew what was going to happen and he wasn’t ready to meet his virgins yet.
I’d look for American-born Muslims first, and then go one to peaceniks as a last resort, because the latter generally don’t have enough skills to get hired a job of that nature.
The Chinook has been in production since the early 1960’s. A while back on the Military Channel they showed the production line. Many of those workers have been there for decades. Shouldn’t be too difficult to narrow that down.
Yes, that’s true.
I was thinking from a standpoint of background checks but don’t know the extent that they’re done. Even so, if they’re extensive I suppose one could get through it.
People say "how could someone throw their military career away". Some see it as a way to fight "the beast" from within.
If it’s sabotage, they’ll do that and more. The people involved here aren’t exactly a bunch of Fife’s.
Oh I know, likely the FBI is already on the ground.
Death Penalty.
We are at war.
Treason is Treason.
Sounds reasonable to me.
The Inspector will be fired.
The person that screwed it up will be told to be more careful in the future.
“Theres anti-war wackos nuts enough to do something like that but you wouldnt think theyd be on a Boeing assembly line.”
IIRC...it’s a union shop....
(I’m a union Electrician)...you should hear the stuff they pump out...there are some REAL hardcore moonbats in the ranks...
He said a number of people got chewed out for letting a bad piece get so far along the line.
Is there going to be a raid by ICE now?
Were there any crumbs of falafel found in the area?
Sounds like the Outta Control Unions around Philly are at it again!
Ping
Ohh a politician is involved! We must be safe now!

You have more info on that? I don’t remember such a crash
I remember it. Fallujah...my nephew refused that particular flight. Marines. It wasn’t 17, it was 30.

But what is more important and revealing about this article is it indicates that more is suspected in the numerous ‘copter crashes than just ‘sand.’ This article is just the tip of the iceberg. Google the crashes and you will start to see a pattern nicely obscured by the phrase, “nothing to see here.”

Officials made a disturbing announcement from Boeing that could impact workers in Ridley Township.
The company says a Boeing employee’s laptop computer has been stolen. It contains personal information on 161,000 employees, including sensitive information such as Social Security numbers, birth dates and banking account information.
A spokesman for Boeing said Saturday that personal information from the 4,500 workers at the Ridley Township plant may be included, but that official couldn’t say for sure.
Torqued to 1000 ft-lbs, same as the UH1?
There are up to 70,000 people worshipping in 34 mosques in the city alone, leading one local leader to describe Philadelphia as “a Mecca for US Muslims”.

Move the plant to a more friendly state.
FWIW, Sestak is Rendell’s partner in the current assault on the 2nd Amendment here in PA.
Livius, thank you so much for posting that anecdote, re the Muslim saboteur. It made my day. I am kind of loving the picture it brings to my mind’s eye.

My first thought was Unions employed at the plant.
It is a classic union tactic. Screw up the project toward the end and have to redo it.
Guarantees job security.
Possible outcome: The one responsible will claim an honest/careless mistake. Same person has connections to Code Pink or some such sort of organization.
Agreed. And something like this would be caught eventually anyways. I assume they have a QA department as diligent as ours is.
Could be some disgruntled employee. The two incidents seem to be quite different. Same employee? I don't think so.
Sabotage?
or, incompetence and a lack of pride in one’s work on the assembly line?
Hard to tell.
I have personally seen commercial airliners sabotaged by disgruntled union mechanics. Nice thought that one of your loved ones could get killed because of one of these little hissy fits.
Doubt it. Most likely the workers had someone who didn’t want to follow the rules and took a shortcut.
They’re still making Chinooks? You would think they would have come up with something better by now.
