McCain Joins Global Warming Cult (Candidate is making himself "Obama Lite")
Real Clear Politics ^ | 05/15/2008 | Cal Thomas

Posted on 05/15/2008 4:13:58 AM PDT by KentTrappedInLiberalSeattle

In an effort to win over those "moderates" who believe that global warming is about to destroy the planet, Republican presidential candidate John McCain spoke Monday at a Portland, Ore., training facility for Vestas Wind Technology. He claimed, "The facts of global warming demand our urgent attention, especially in Washington."

There certainly is more "hot air" on this and a lot of other subjects in Washington, but that isn't what he meant. The era of big government is so not over, as Bill Clinton claimed it was in 1996. It is just beginning and increasingly the political contests seem to be about who will manage its growth, not who will reduce its size, cost and reach.

Despite a recent Wall Street Journal editorial characterizing his position on global warming as "Obama lite," McCain asserted, "We stand warned by serious and credible scientists across the world that time is short and the dangers are great. The most relevant question now is whether our own government is equal to the challenge." No, the most relevant question is whether global warming is true. Cults ignore evidence and facts contrary to their blind faith. Science should never be blind to opposing views, but the apostle of global warming, Al Gore, and his new disciple, John McCain, want us to believe in a 2008 version of the Pete Seeger anti-war lyric: "we were -- knee deep in (carbon monoxide) and the big fool said to push on."

One of these three babosos unfortunately will soon be the leader of the free world.
Look for a continuing downturn of Americas greatness.
Be honest, the vast majority of us wouldn’t choose and of these three to have a beer and pizza with.

Fine. He may win over the moderates, but the conservatives will stay home and not open their wallets to the RNC.

McCain will either lose or else win and have a veto proof Dem majority in Congress. Either way, WE lose...

I certainly don't agree with Al Gore's global warming BS, but I do think that Newt Gingrich has a point when he says that we can't let the Lefties and the envirofacists own this discussion. On this subject, they rule the field.
If McCain wants to lay some groundwork so that a reasonable voice can talk about this subject, I have no objection.

All that oil that sits in ANWAR and all the oil in the Gulf of Mexico is a very good reason to start hitting back at the GW cult.

Check out what Meghan McCain told GQ Magazine about this issue.
“My dad was tortured in prison; he doesn’t overreact to things. So if he starts freaking out, you know it’s time to freak out,” she says. “And I think he’s freaking out about the environment. He’s like, ‘I’m genuinely worried about climate change; it’s happening right now.’”

It makes me proud that Republicans will stay home instead of voting for McCain, because Obama is the Messiah, and he will take us to the promise land.

Or maybe we could make a strong attempt to get McCain elected as the lesser of two evils. The Messiah is going to kill business in America and investment with his tax proposals. If that isn’t enough to get off your ass and vote, when your life savings gets a double wack, then I don’t know what will. How much more personal can it get?

They are also reporting that the swing in Congress will be so large that McCain won’t even be able to hold a veto. Great. So the dems are strongly in control and the best the right can do is to stay at home.
How about a tax revolt instead, because I don’t feel like paying another 15-25% extra on my investments?

From your link:

>>McCain: There’s always room for discussion. But I don’t know how any conservative can not support cap and trade. We did it with acid rain. The Europeans are putting it into effect. It’s a capitalist process that encourages green technologies. If we’re wrong, all we’ve done is adopt green technologies, in an effort to give our kids a greener planet.

As far as ANWR is concerned, I don’t want to drill in the Grand Canyon, and I don’t want to drill in the Everglades. This is one of the most pristine and beautiful parts of the world.<<

Notice that McCain says “don't want to” but that he does not say never, ever. With OPEC waging it's jihad on the American economy, McCain will have to lead the way in alternatives. Barry will simply bend over for them.

That's the Dems plan. That's why the Dem leaders are flocking to Obama while the Dem voters are choosing Hillary.
If Obama wins, the leaders were part of history and will speak of supporting Obama like they spoke of marching with Martin Luther King.
If Obama looses, so what?
They get Obama Lite.
Additionally, the down ticket can depend on 90% of the black vote for another generation and that's where the action is.

Okay, so let me get this straight. The clowns in DC that have saddled We the People with Trillions of Dollars of Debt, are now going to restrict our productivity and limit our resource management, thus assuring that We The People can never ever possible pay off their Trillions of Dollars of debt. And apparently the clowns all think this is a good idea. Time to pop the popcorn, laugh out loud, and watch DC's fiscal implosion.

The new country or countries that form following the implosion, should construct a monument or two dedicated to our current leaders stupidity. It may help to educate future generations.

Good article by Cal Thomas.

...."McCain should demand a debate on the issue. Global warming cult leaders won't debate. Al Gore has refused every debate challenge, asserting the facts are undeniable and that global warming is real. That's another mark of a cult leader; he will tolerate no doubters."....

Global warming alarmists are no different than the "Flat Earth" crowd from centuries ago. They tolerated no debate either. It challenged their religious world view.

This is exactly why I will not be voting for John McCain. I know people will say the alternative is much worse but that simply is not true. The biggest battle we have and one we are losing is the ultimate control over every man women and child on this planet in other words our freedom. Global warming and most “green” issues are nothing more than a means to control the activities and lives of the people. This year it’s through Polar Bears in 50 years through mandatory population control. John McCain, Newt Gingrich, many other GOP’ers are nothing more than what Obama is. If ever there was time for forceful reestablishment of constitutional Government it is now. Sorry to be so blunt but it seems obvious to me that the agenda is set.

I don't see any problem if Obama looses in a fair general election.
Nominating Obama will be historic and bond the black vote to the Dems for generations.
Loosing, eliminates responsibility for difficulties the Dems created. Additionally they'll have McCain to kick around and blame for everything. The bonus is another four years to fund-raise against the evil Republican warmonger President.
OTOH, there may be problems if the nomination is stolen from Obama by the Clintons.

We're being set up big time.

I can't vote for someone who is so actively against my beliefs and values, so that eliminates any of the three potential candidates.

I think we should run a Freeper poll on who is the most popular write-in candidate for President. I'm proudly writing in Dr. Thomas Sowell.

Be honest, the vast majority of us wouldn’t choose and [sic]of these three to have a beer and pizza with.

Why do you think it is important to choose a President with whom you want to have a beer and pizza with? The last two Presidents were that type to a lot of voters and both were absolute catastrophes.

Maybe you should rethink your criteria in terms of "reasons to vote for a politician" and remove the beer and pizza thing.

That is an especially good idea because there is generally a very low chance that you will asked to drink a beer and have a slice with them.

We are f—ked...

But its our own fault for allowing things to go this far. We have always had the power to change things but were too lazy and comfortable in our cushy lifestyles to bother. It was OUR duty to protect and defend the ideals this country was founded on.

We failed... Miserably...

We couldn’t live up to the expectations of the founders and we lost it.

“all that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing” And we did NOTHING. Oh... We had a little protest here or a rally there, but only cause it fit into our schedules and it didn’t upset our lives of servitude. We made ourselves feel better by emailing companies, media outlets and our masters in government. We listened to Rush / hannity, etc and filled ourselves will moral outrage.

But... After everything is said and done, we can look back and say we did nothing to save our freedom. We threw pebbles at a battleship.

We have no one to blame for this but ourselves. Everyone should give themselves a pat on the back for TOTALLY dropping the ball and losing what people DIED to give us and defend for us. Nice job... Send a few more emails, or elect a few more socialists from either party, it’ll make you feel better.

I think Newt makes a very good point about not letting the Leftist movement own the topic. Conservatives will get mowed down on this (i.e. the polar bears) if they don't have a say in the discussion. Also, since China and India are the world's biggest polluters, why not have a voice of reason demanding that they be held to the same standards as the U.S.? The HateAmerica crowd uses “climate change” as a truncheon to beat down any reasonable argument on energy Independence, nuclear power, or oil refineries. We can all just forget about our own oil if they continue to be the sole voice in the matter.

This is not a situation set in stone. Conservatives have to get in the game if we want to break the stranglehold OPEC has over us. Let's have the damn discussion. Let's see more about the father of the Greenpeace movement now advocating for nuclear energy. Let's push back against the enviro-whackos who want us sitting in the freezing cold dark of the 7th century with their carbon credits and one sheet of toilet paper.

It's a Chicken Little world we are living in, it's time to inject some reason into it.
