Purchasing Democratic Socialism in America
New Media Journal ^ | May 19, 2008 | JB Williams

American liberals are getting increasingly frustrated with the use of the term “democratic socialism.” But I’m getting increasingly fed up with the improper use of the term “liberal.” John McCain is a liberal. Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, like all modern Democrats, are something quite different.

For the record, the term “liberal” originally referred to people like Thomas Jefferson, indicating their undying reverence for “individual liberty” and “personal freedom” above all other notions and their opposition to government power.

People who believe in empowering government to strip liberty and freedom from individuals in the name of some greater common good are not “liberals,” they are in fact “socialists.” And if they use democratic processes, the “will of the people,” to achieve a state of socialism, they are “Democratic Socialists.”

Those who still deny or seek to conceal the reality of Democratic Socialism in America must study the Democratic Socialists of America organization, its policy initiatives and member rolls, and how many members they already have seated in powerful congressional offices via the Democrat Party.

Now that I’ve covered that reality, I want to address the subject of who is behind this movement, who is spending BIG money in American politics to purchase Democratic Socialism in America, who is the anti-American Fifth Column operating within.

The Best Funded Movement in America Today

Conservatives had better get a grip on reality and realize that there are many significant differences between a DNC Oval Office and an RNC Oval Office today!

More accurately, they are fascists.

But, it must be one of those non-issues, since there aren't really any socialist policies being pushed. We're all just paranoid to think this is an "assault" on freedom and traditional values.

John McCain is not liberal in the Jeffersonian sense. The McCain-Fiengold Incumbent Protection Act did expand or protect "individual liberty" or "personal freedom". It protected politicians, especially those in office, against the truth of their record being "outed" in the days leading up to an election, just when getting those truths out to the people is most important.

At best, McCain is a "lite" Democratic Socialist, while H.R.Clinton is a heavy Democratic Socialist, while Obama is at least a Marxist lite.

He gets it!

But the problem is that those selling the lie socialism are great at promising: free, universal, national, egalitarian, fair, environmental, ecological, green, multilateral ideas.

People are more often then not willing to surrender what they perceive as a little bit of their freedom for security.

People typically are selfish and socialism with it's classwarefare approach typically is appealing to all those who at least perceive themselves as being the have nots in society. The politics of redistribution are very appealing if you're not the one being robbed by the state.

Liberals today have little in common with what the word originally meant. In fact in an ironic twist it is typically the liberal who attacks the US Constitution (A very liberal in thought document) and trys to undermine it. The author hits the nail on it's head. What we call liberals today are people with a strong socialist leaning, not liberals.

Sorry, but I believe you overstate McCain’s leftist bent and grossly understate that of Obama and Clinton and as long as conservatives continue to make this false statement, it will help insure the worst possible outcome this fall.

with all due respect, Green Issues especially AGW are the means to the final nail in the capitalist coffin. If you control carbon you control life I heard someone say. That is as direct a statement that can be made. John McCain has been trumpeting the green ie Marxist cause so excuse me for being a little less than enthusiastic

This is getting so damn scary. The common phrase I hear among the socialibbies is “whether you agree with it or not, something has to be done...”

Contrary to popular propaganda, oil or carbon is not the currency of those who intend to control the world....

But oil and carbon is the means to gaining conrol of the preferred currency, .... food!

Yep,

Scary doesn't even begin to describe how I see it. I truly don't believe people understand the magnitude of tyranny we are about unleash, but its not like it hasn't been a long time coming. That “something” has to be done about it is a direct result of their own socialist and Marxist policies to begin with. What a gig they have, create a problem resolve it with their own corrupt policy in the name of some populist (emotional) response which creates more problems that of course must be addressed by the government taking more of your freedom away. Yes quite the gig indeed. That people buy this is almost as tragically funny as Taxing the weather.

Why people want to be subjects is beyond me. Its an epidemic in Europe and has infected us here.

Certainly food is the absolute primary substance of life and its production on a mass level is energy dependent as are all products that have made life better.

Technically speaking, we do not have an oil shortage, but energy policies are causing food shortages....

Man can live without oil but he can not live without food. People who want to control “society” understand this very well...
