Yep. The seven year old can talk about WW2 like a pro. A couple of the shows regulars are still around, they write to the little guy every once in a while and I talk with one of them often enough to call him friend.

In a way, he still did.

He made the Red Scare out to basically be paranoia rather than a truly genuine threat, and the US Government out to be unsympathetic.

The only difference is that he depicted the Soviets as being the greater of two evils.
