SORT OF anti-communist. There’s a subplot that the FBI was suspecting Indy of spying, so there’s some ‘commentary’ on the anti-commie hysteria of the 50s. Weird thing is, the subplot didn’t go anywhere and was never resolved.

Not only that, the final scene was completely forced and frankly, stupid. I was wondering if Spielberg lost interest in his own movie at the end, or the screenwriters had amnesia, or they just had better things to do that day than shoot a quality movie scene.

It was fun I suppose, with the car chases, the stunts, the archaeological puzzles, but not a very good movie in terms of consistency. Prince Caspian and Iran Man are much better.

Oh, almost forget- I also had to endure some preachy enviro-nazi propaganda from Harrison Ford before the movie stated.

Since the original Indiana Jones movies were made 25 years ago and set in the 1930s, Harrison Ford has aged accordingly. It would look a bit silly if he were still fighting Nazis, so they substituted Stalin-era Communists, who looked and acted a lot like the Nazis. They also look very little like the modern version of leftists, so few of the great unwashed will make that connection. Besides, the Left blames all the failures of Communism on that particularly bloodthirsty Soviet dictator.

Don’t worry. Hell isn’t freezing over yet. They also take a shot at “McCarthyism.” I think Indy loses his job at the university because he’s suspected of being a commie.

A friend of Indy complains that “American authorities sees Communists everywhere, even in the people’s soup.”

This is a clear attack against America, like if the Russian spies never existed.

Go SEE the movie. Indy IV is abolutely NOT anti-communist.
