"For 'tis the sport to have the enginer / Hoist with his owne petar"

-- Shakespeare, Hamlet III iv. "Hoist" was in Shakespeare's time the past participles of a verb "to hoise", which meant what "to hoist" does now: to lift. A petard (see under "peter out" for the etymology) was an explosive charge detonated by a slowly burning fuse. If the petard went off prematurely, then the sapper (military engineer; Shakespeare's "enginer") who planted it would be hurled into the air by the explosion. (Compare "up" in "to blow up".) A modern rendition might be: "It's fun to see the engineer blown up with his own bomb."

Chicago Alderman Richard Mell sounds like a typical "guns for me but none for thee" Liberal overlord.

I'm thinking that his fear of an armed citizenry is more than just paranoia.

This is why there hasn’t been a President from Chicago. Everybody’s dirty. Mob dirty.

This reminds me of the state legislator from Houston who voted against the castle doctrine. He became the first person in the whole state of Texas to use that law.

It’s not limited to Chicago.

This guy should have all of his guns seized and he should be jailed. That’s exactly what he would demand of others in violation of the law he supported.

Leftists don’t just lie, the LIVE a lie.

Mell has proposed an amendment to the existing law that would allow gun registration to re-open for a month, giving him amnesty. Mell and Daley are claiming that this is for other gun owners in the city as well who may have let their registrations lapse.

Exsqueeze me? "May Have" let them "lapse" ...

Man-o-man, what a (blanking) load of (blank) and he and Daley know it!

Since this registration law was passed, in 1982 IIRC, NO existing handgun registrations were renewed (grandfathered in) or new ones approved by the CPD - except for Aldermen and Daley's squad of Flying Monkeys. That's how Chicago became "Handgun Free".

So this amnesty is a freaking joke. And like the Latin Kings, Vice Lords, Blackstone Ranger or Gangster Disciple street gangs are gonna be lined up at Police HQ to register their guns.

Not to mention the 500,000 ILLEGAL ALIENS and their gang-banging spawn,

Sí señor oficial de policía que me gustaría registrar mi arma. No no soy un ciudadano de los Estados Unidos y sí estoy en el país ilegalmente. ¿Que importa?
If DICK Mell was citizen (or legal immigrant) Dick Mall, after this public 'Confession' he'd now be in the county jail on a $5 Mill Bond, and the gun grabbing Cook County States Attorney, DICK 'DeVine' (sarc), would be seeking life in prison (NOT sarc).

Laws for the little people don't apply to any lib elite or at least so they think and if you were to poll most libs they would think they are one of the elite. The grass roots libs see a utopia where conservatives and their ilk have to obey draconian laws but that libs, who are smart enough not to need laws, will not. Talk to a few, this is exactly what many of them think.

Someone needs to question Obama about what’s the point of this hypocritical amnesty, law breaking and unConstitutional nonsense, especially since he supports it like the D.C. gun ban.
