Skip to comments.Muslim Obama: ‘WILL STAND WITH MUSLIMS SHOULD POLITICAL WINDS SHIFT IN UGLY DIRECTION’
Posted on 05/27/2008 12:44:43 PM PDT by OnRightOnLeftCoast
This is what Barack Obama said following 9/11: In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.

And I’m sure those same Pakistani-American’s will stand by him after he bombs Pakistan.
I think a few words are missing from the quote. It was something like “They needed my assurance that I will stand with them if the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”
I imagine his story will be that he will stand with people of every nationality if the political winds shift in an ugly direction. He’s the Kumbaya Candidate.
“What a combo: Muslim Commie!”
And with the inside track to be the next Commander in Chief.
God Bless America?
God Help America.

What’s wrong with that statement? If their were riots in US after 9/11 (thank God their weren’t and not one person got harmed and that is tribute to the greatness of this nation) and muslims were under attack in US, not only Obama but President Bush would stand with them to protect them. Same goes for all other minorities as well.
If you are gonna pick on a guy, at least do it on something legitimate.
Good Lord, what can be done about all of these hard stares???
This is going to be one interesting election.
Yes, but will he stand with us against the Muslims if the winds shift in an ugly direction?
Call Him: "The Man Who Said TOO Much".
“..hard stares from neighbors..”
Christians in Muslim countries are subjected to much more than that.
Sadly, the only person I remember getting harmed after 9/11 due to “anti-Muslim bigotry” wasn’t even a Muslim. Somebody shot and killed a Sikh.
I think it shows just how proud we can be of America and Americans that after 9/11, there was so little anti-Muslim violence. No riots, no cars burning in the streets, no Muslim shops on fire, no Arab-American bodies hanging from lightposts. Muslims riot over silly cartoons and teddy bears.
I wonder whether the name on his birth certificate is Mohammed Barak Hussein Obama. Muslims I know and know about often have Mohammed as their first name, though they go by their second name. I wouldn’t want to say for sure, but I hope someone is digging out that certificate.
"Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific reassurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction."
Don’t you think if that were the case, someone would have found out by now? And what difference does it make what his first name is?
More complete quote:
"Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. You have a problem with that? The Audacity of Hope, page 261 (paperback version)
Bad. Very bad. Electing him is a message to the jihadis and the marxists that the country is theirs.
“and hard stares from neighbors”
Boo hoo. What did they expect, a handshake and a slap on the back?
On September 12, 2001, we should have stopped issuing all temporary and student visas for Muslims.
See my #15.
The audacity of a dope.
Of course what happens when the sand people inevitably detonate a nuke on US soil is another ballgame.
Hogwash about Fairness....WE KNOW WHAT OBAMA MEANT AND MEANS! If he isn’t a Muslim, then I am a Duck:-)
Yeah, I noticed that you had subsequently posted the real quote. I’ve seen the misquotes spammed all over the threads here. They were so outrageous, I researched it last night to find that it was a complete misrepresentation of his words.
There are so many things to legitimately critize about Barrack Obama, this kind of hyperbolic junk just makes folks look like reactionary lemmings that will buy into any propaganda.
I think we would all like reassurances that their citizenship means something.
That they respect the rule of law as it exists and not Sharia law as they would like. That they respect American
tolerance for all religions under those laws and learn to respect the sacrifices made by Jews & Christians, in uniform and in service to the freedoms they enjoy.
I would like reassurances that they are making efforts to spread the idea of American freedoms to other Muslim relatives and friends throughout the world and decry the barbarism that Islam’s fanatics are promulgating.
It would make a great deal of difference to me for several reasons, one of which would be his reason for covering it up.
Comrade Obama is a lying Marxist menace.

The Audacity of Hope, page 261 (paperback version)This is the actual quote, and I don't have a problem with it. What FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT (D) did to Japanese-American citizens was shameful.
Well, according to this article, his true full name is Barack Hussein Muhammad Obama:
Are (Arab) American citizens to be denied freedoms until they prove to you that they have taken some additional overt action as you have described? What other "reassurances" would you suggest? Will other classes of citizens be required to provide you these additional "reassurances" as well?
That is one message, clearly! Another will simply be, similar to Kennedy’s meeting with Kruschev in Vienna, his obvious weaknesses. Kruschev saw Kennedy as a weak president so began his ‘attack mode’ (Cuba, et al). Weak Presidents give us attacks...Strong Presidents give us security. Other than McGovern, Carter, [TankShrimp](can’t ever remember his name), Mondale, Clinton, and Obama, I can’t think of any weaker presidents/candidates.
His birth certificate has not been made public.
My understanding is that Hawaii only releases birth certificates to the person.
A marriage license would also be interesting to find.
His own father and mothers wedding in Hawaii may not have been properly documented. “How and when the marriage occurred remains a bit murky, a bill of particulars that I have never quite had the courage to explore,” Obama writes in his memoir.
Yep, the arabs just don’t realize how lucky they were that Bush was president! Who else would have given the American Muslims the level of protection they got, and limited bombings to Afghanistan and Iraq?
There are so many things to legitimately critize about Barrack Obama, this kind of hyperbolic junk just makes folks look like reactionary lemmings that will buy into any propaganda. >>
Are you the speech/thought police?
I didn't write the article. The last time I checked, FR is a site to post and exchange opinions whether you argee or not.
After posting it, I Googled the statement noticing other sources have the same sentimnt as the source of my post. Nonetheless, I found that it came out of his book and posted it BEFORE your snarky challenge.
A more relevant remark would be to question if Hussein would feel that way then as CinC when something turned ugly against our country by muslims.
Well you can make an endless conundrum out of any statement. Mine was quite explicit and limited.
I made no demands - just asked for reassurances, which have not been overwhelming.
Did I demand any punishment, internment or denial of freedoms?
You need to calm down and call Obama.
Snarky? I'm sorry if you interpreted it that way. I specifically mentioned the SPAM being put on other threads--I was not speaking of your post. I was glad to see that you found the inaccuracy of you post on your own. One wonders why you think other people are snarky for pointing out what you, yourself, found.
I'm perfectly calm. I was just curious.
Just to be perfectly clear, The writer of this post has a political right to write it. You have a political right to post it.
Having said that, I also have a right to express the opinion that it is badly written, unsourced, and full of unjustified leaps to unwarranted conclusions. As such, it is blatant propaganda, and of no value in making a case against Obama.
Some of the points might well have value, but only if openly sourced, verifiable, and cogently written.
This kind of article is why GrantS wank is not considered a credible source.
I doubt you are old enough to actually know what might have happened immediately after Pearl Harbor. Millions of Patriots lined up to enlist on December 8th, they were not in a gracious mood. Germans were not nearly as recognizable, besides most of the Administration were not all that anti Nazi.
I don’t care about B. Hussein’s parents being legally married, which we really could not hold against him, but I do care about the name on his birth certificate. Names are important, have consequences.
May sound strange, but a friend of mine is a name expert who is convinced that names shape people, sometimes to an amazing extent. She’s a black lady, a great Christian, who laments the idiotic made-up names black women give their kids, and actually has helped such kids turn their lives around by changing their names. There’s a long history and tradition in Judaism of the power of names and many books on it. I’ll have to call my friend. Been avoiding it because she’s a staunch Repub and may have switched because of Barak.
More to the point, another friend, an American born in Palestine, just returned from two years translating in Iraq and tells me that the idiot terrorists believe that if we elect Barak Hussein, they’ll have carte blanche to blow us up. THEY believe that the Hussein name denotes muslim warrior, who of course would never turn his back on Mohamed and jihad. So even if Barak Hussein were the best Christian and American in the world, he’d be a signal to the islamofascists that their time has come. Their leaders would use it to whip them into action.
According to what I have read, you have to not only say it, but believe it in your heart.
If anyone has a real desire to be a Muslim and has full conviction and strong belief that Islam is the true religion of God, then, all one needs to do is pronounce the “Shahada”, the testimony of faith, without further delay. The “Shahada” is the first and most important of the five pillars of Islam.
With the pronunciation of this testimony, or “Shahada”, with sincere belief and conviction, one enters the fold of Islam.
1) The ‘Declaration of Faith’
A Muslim is one who testifies that “none deserves worship but God, and Muhammad is the messenger of God.” This declaration is known as the “shahada” (witness, testimony). God is the Arabic name for God, just as Yahweh is the Hebrew name for God. By making this simple proclamation one becomes a Muslim. The proclamation affirms Islam’s absolute belief in the oneness of God, His exclusive right to be worshipped, as well as the doctrine that associating anything else with God is the one unforgivable sin as we read in the Koran:
“God does not forgive anyone for associating something with Him, while He does forgive whomever He wishes to for anything else. Anyone who gives God partners has invented an awful sin.” (Quran 4:48)
The second part of the testimony of faith states that Muhammad, may the blessing and mercy of God be upon him, is a prophet of God like Abraham, Moses and Jesus before him. Muhammad brought the last and final revelation. In accepting Muhammad as the “seal of the prophets,” Muslims believe that his prophecy confirms and fulfills all of the revealed messages, beginning with Adam’s. In addition, Muhammad serves as the role model through his exemplary life. A believer’s effort to follow Muhammad’s example reflects the emphasis of Islam on practice and action.
An alternative rendering is:
This version constitutes an interpretation rather than a direct translation, as the words "worthy of worship" are not present in the Arabic.
In usage the two occurrences of 'ašhadu 'an (or similar) = "I testify that" are very often omitted.
There are seven critical conditions of the Shahadah, without which it is considered to be meaningless:
Al-`Ilm: Knowledge of the meaning of the Shahadah, its negation and affirmation.
Al-Yaqeen: Certainty – perfect knowledge of it that counteracts suspicion and doubt.
Al-Ikhlaas: Sincerity which negates shirk.
Al-Sidq: Truthfulness that permits neither falsehood nor hypocrisy.
Al-Mahabbah: Love of the Shahadah and its meaning, and being happy with it.
Al-Inqiad: Submission to its rightful requirements, which are the duties that must be performed with sincerity to God (alone) seeking His pleasure.
Al-Qubool: Acceptance that contradicts rejection.
Recital Arabic Transliteration Translation 4x الله اكبر Allah hu Akbar God is the Greatest 2x اشهد ان لا اله الا الله Ash-hadu anna lā ilāha illallāh I bear witness that there is no lord except God 2x اشهد ان محمدا رسول الله Ash-hadu anna Muhammadan rasūlullāh I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of God
Although the original article included the words of the Adhan, it must be noted that the NYT Op-Ed does NOT (at least NOW) contain them. However, if one accepts the above cited sources, reciting the Adhan INCLUDES reciting the Shahada. Furthermore, this recitation under certain stated conditions, “one enters the fold of Islam.”
Since it is impossible for us to KNOW whether those conditions were met, during any of the (presumeably) maqny times Obama has recited the words, we cannot KNOW, as a certainty, whether he is formally a Muslim. In thnking about this issue, though, it is instructive to consider the many MILLIONS who have become Muslims (by reciting the Shahada) solely because that the alternative was sudden death.
Furthermore, Obama's claim to Christianity is now legitimately open to question. If he recites (by heart) the words of the Shahada, without MEANING them, what words did he say to become a Christian; and did he MEAN them, any more than the Shahada?
Finally, following Christ explicitly includes belief that Jesus is “the only begotten Son of God,” and that Jesus IS God, and is to be worshipped AS God. Following Islam explicitly includes believing that Allah IS the ONLY god, and that it is blasphemy to worship any other. THAT is what is being testified to, in the Shahada.
Saying “Jesus is God” is blasphemy to Islam.
Sayubg the Shahada is blasphemy against Christ.
Saybug = Saying
Kennedy was messed up on pain pills. It’s why presidential medical records are generally released, some like Bill Clinton never disclosed their health records.
German u-boats sank hundreds of cargo ships off our coast.
The Japanese were making bubonic plague to drop in clay pots attached to balloons over our West Coast cities.
There was domestic sabotage of train lines and other industries in America.
It is a myth that America was safe from mainland attack in WWII.
What was the Japanese response to Americans living in Japan after Pearl Harbor was bombed?
