Ann Coulter once made the observation that the women in “Sex and the City” don’t act like real-world women, they act like gay men.

It just so happens that the scripts are written by gay men.

Coincidence?

SATC: The Story Of Four Insecure Women Searching For Love

Hey! I'm insecure! Will one of them date ME?

(Gee I wonder if I could ever keep one of them happy)

(I mean, I'm not all that)

(Matter of fact, just forget it)

(No woman would ever want me)

(Ever)

I’ve always referred to that show as ‘Sex and the Sluts’.

I've never seen an entire episode of this show. Twice I've stopped by at a friend's and she had it on, and I saw about five minutes. Both times I was fairly repulsed and depressed by it. The more recent of the two featured the Sarah Jessica character trying desperately to get Mr. Big to introduce her to his mother. They'd been "dating" for months but he wouldn't introduce her. Finally she stalks them to church and corners them, where he reluctantly introduces her as "my friend."

All the agonizing, all the trying-trying-trying to get a man to commit to them... it was just painful to watch even those few moments.

Then my friend told me about the whole "He's Just Not That Into You" conversation that spawned the book by the same name. I was interested in the book, so I picked it up and read it... and it was The Rules but from a guy's point of view! Literally: men are the hunters, women are the hunted. So just hold still, look pretty, let him do the chasing, and if he doesn't chase hard enough, move on.

And that was depressing too, really, in its own way. So my current view is that feminism is a failure, the old fashioned me-Tarzan-you-Jane is dehumanizing, and I am taking a vow of celibacy for life and concentrating on keeping my house really, really clean.

Why can’t a woman be more like a man?

And the eternal answer will always be that it's all well and good, but men will leave them in a split-second to be with a woman who wants to be a woman.

LOL We'd never seen the show, but a re-run came on, so we thought we'd give it a chance.

After enduring all of 15 minutes, all that could be said was, "WHAT A PIECE OF CRAP!"

I thought it was pretty obvious it was sex and the city was really a story about the sexual hedonistic life of homosexuasl using women as a “cover”

The problem I have with that series is that is next to impossible for me to believe that someone so damned homely as Sarah Jessica Parker could, even for moment, be a leading lady. Maxim Magazine was dead on when the readers picked her as the most unattractive woman on television. She has the face of a witch, very tiny eyes, a greasy complexion, and a 6-inch jaw (not to mention that chin wart).

Perhaps that’s evidence that it’s really a show catering to gays (ala Ann Coulter’s right-on critique).

Before anybody gets testy with me about how I feel about her looks, remember that she was/is cast as the LEAD feminine vamp in that tragic show. I didn’t cast her. Nor did I cast her in that hair commercial, when they have her face kinda’ fuzzy so her faults don’t show. My God! Couldn’t they have gotten Faith Hill or Elizabeth Shue or Janine Turner, someone very pretty, to do the commercial?
