Climate report offers a dire look at next 50 years.
Get used to it -- and be ready for water shortages, too, says a sweeping new scientific report rounding up likely effects of climate change on the United States' land, water and farms over the next half-century.
Some effects already can be felt, says the report released Tuesday, which synthesizes results of more than 1,000 individual studies.
And it's not just humans' food that's at risk, said witnesses at a congressional field hearing in Seattle on Tuesday. An intense and sudden acidification of the Pacific resulting from climate change presages a possible breakdown in the marine food web, experts said at the hearing, headed by Sen. Maria Cantwell, D-Wash.
"This is not a problem of tomorrow but a problem for today," said Rep. Jay Inslee, D-Wash., noting that nearly 10 percent of protein in the human diet is from the oceans. "It just scares the heck out of me."
The U.S. Department of Agriculture report cataloged effects thought by scientists to be likely over the next 25 to 50 years on agriculture, land and water.

Even many bulk discount groceries are higher this month, but that’s mostly from attention by grocers to news/propaganda. The items chosen for much higher prices (with regards to actual supply facts and late timing) indicated that the retailers are playing price games due to generalizing exaggerations by the media.
For example, even after the US-Japan decision to flush Japanese rice reserves into the world market, potatoes are now as good a choice in the USA—price-and-nutrition-wise—as rice.
On the oil/fuel trends, we’ll simply have to adjust to those—especially to do more domestic manufacturing (freight fuel). There’s no safe way to heap freight fuel and dollar adjustment costs onto other market sectors, and efforts to do so could only result in focused riots and wars (”wars” re. the stupid idea of forcing Asian economies and consumer demands down with false western recessions).

So, NEON, a group made up of people who specialize in making “climate” models and models of ‘human-climate interaction’ over the last thousand years, did the research this article is based on. Makes you wonder who’s funding NEON, doesn’t it? Not to mention that it sounds like a group Maxwell Smart would be battling...

Sorry, but any country with a coastline and the unlimited energy resources represented by nuclear power should NEVER experience water shortages.

In a roundabout way, it’s true. We use massive amounts of water and food to produce biofuels, which are an idiotic solution to the non-existent problem of global warming/ Manbearpig rampages.

Maybe Berkshire Hathaway has a hunch on where the “my house just foreclosed” crew is going to wind up living. But at least they’ll have water to go with that new tornado magnet.
