Obama ‘Disappointed’ by Pastor’s Remarks That Were Critical of Clinton
New York Times ^ | May 29, 2008 | Jeff Zeleny

Senator Barack Obama said Thursday that he was “deeply disappointed” for new controversial statements that a friend of his delivered from the pulpit of his Chicago church.

This time, the words were not from his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., but rather from a Catholic priest who was mocking Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton.

During a guest appearance last Sunday at Trinity United Church of Christ, the Rev. Michael Pfleger delivered a blistering critique of Mrs. Clinton’s candidacy. Mr. Pfleger, a wellknown activist Chicago priest and a friend of Mr. Obama, said Mrs. Clinton felt entitled to the presidency and was stunned by “a black man stealing my show.”

The remarks from Mr. Pfleger first appeared on several blogs in Chicago on Thursday, accompanied by a You Tube video of his words to the congregation.

“When Hillary was crying, and people said that was put on – I really don’t believe it was put on,” Mr. Pfleger said. “I really believe that she just always thought this is mine. I’m Bill’s wife, I’m white and this is mine. I just gotta get up and step into the plate. And then, out of nowhere, came ‘Hey, I’m Barack Obama.’ And she said, ‘Oh, damn. Where did you come from? I’m white. I’m entitled. There’s a black man stealing my show.”

In his next breath, Mr. Pfleger wipes his face and mocks Mrs. Clinton’s tears, saying: “She wasn’t the only one crying. There was a whole lot of white people crying.”

Disappointed, my butt. He agrees with what Pfleger said, and is probably sorry he wasn’t there to cheer him on.

Racist bastards, and they all think their racism is so cool and funny. All about “a bunch of white people”. F them I’m an American and supported all kinds of anti discrimination laws, but not so these leftist “priests” could spew racial hatred.

I think it is wonderful that these people have a bright spotlight on their words now. The nation is getting a good long look at the crowd BHO is connected to, and it’s not a pretty picture.

Yep, Obama’s disappointed that he said it before November.

How utterly ridiculous did this guy look and sound. First off these sermons are low-minded and cater to the the lowest intellect within this country. Second off, I wonder if a preacher in a church where John McCain even attended once within the last 20 yrs said this about blacks how quick this would be all over the Internet and talk shows.

As much as I hate to admit it, I think Geraldine was right.

At least this election has exposed some of the rubbish that passes for political thought in the black community. It explodes the myth that only whites are racists and the blacks are only victims.

Oprah had sense enough to separate herself from that Church some time ago.

Obama doesn't seem to have that much sense.

Time for the Bishop to disown this jerk of a priest, before the whole Chicago diocese gets hit by the IRS.

Or better yet, how about reversing that damned IRS decision that pulls the tax exemption of any church that talks about politics from the pulpit? Ordinarily that’s not what a priest should be doing, especially on a Sunday that is supposed to be about the meaning of Christ’s saying, “Unless you eat my body and drink my blood, you shall not have eternal life.”

But it shouldn’t be up to the IRS to forbid all political speech from the pulpit. There are surely legitimate topics, such as gay marriage and abortion.

Reading the comments do not do justice of how fiery and inflammatory his comments really were. You need to watch the video.

“How utterly ridiculous did this guy look and sound.”

He thinks he’s a black man. He thinks he’s helping the black community by playing the fool. He’s not black, never will be black, and he elected himself to speak for black people. The audience eats it up because they get a cheap thrill out of seeing how much someone can get away with.

Exactly. The real story is not some crazy preacher spewing crap from the pulpit, but the hysterical reaction from the masses in that filthy church. That's what the story should be in the media, but they ignore all those racist blacks pretending to be Christians.

Very good post.
Problem is he’s been going to this church for quite a few years. You know the hate they spew has penetrate his brain.

Exactly, precisely!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Forget pastor x or pastor y — he sat in the pews with 8,000 sub-human animal scumbag, us citizens who, 5 days after 9-11, were having a loud, raucous party celebrating the 9-11 attacks.

Mr. Pfleger’s elevator doesn’t go all the way to the attic. Not quite a crazy uncle; but definitely another of Obama’s family.
