Real beer drinkers don’t really care WHERE it came from, as long as it hits the spot. Only metrosexuals care where it came from, and only the first four bottles.

"Just another marketing gimmick. Some fool will buy it." Especially the Japanese. They'll pay the equivalent of $300.00 or more US for an ounce of deep sea water( what? does it come with a "statement of authenticity"?).
P.T. Barnum was an American, so he can be forgiven for being so far off with his sucker born every minute statement when it comes to the Japenese.

Marty passed out after sampling several bottles of space beer, without noticing any real difference.

Back in the 90’s, I think is was NASA who had a thing where you could email the Shuttle crew questions while they were in orbit. So I emailed the question “Is it easier to get a beer buzz in space”? I never did get a response, lol. But I hope someone got a chuckle, haha.

Speaking of Japanese beer, I bought a case of this stuff yesterday, my saturday, and enjoyed a few last night. Not too shabby.

I like the hops.

Apparently, Japanese tax laws tax “beer” very heavily. The brewers get around this by brewing something that legally isn’t “beer”. Looks like beer, tastes like beer, but somehow it doesn’t fit the Japanese legal definition. My son-in-law, who lived there at the time, said that if the label doesn’t have the word “beer” on it, it isn’t legally beer and the price is much lower. Looking at “The Hop” I don’t see the b word, so I guess it is an example of this—but you already knew this!

BeerRatings.com doesn’t think much of it. If you can find it, grab some India Pale Ale made with Northwest hops. And you don’t have to live in the NW to find such, right now, I’m nursing an Arcadia IPA from Battle Creek, MI. Not top rated, at a 59, but still darn good brew.
