Police said a man who grabbed a woman and her 3-year-old daughter in an elevator at a Bronx apartment building has been shot and killed by the woman's husband, an off-duty officer.
A man followed the 30-year-old woman and her daughter into the elevator at about 11:45 p.m. Saturday, authorities said.
The woman and her child got off on the third floor and the man followed them.
Police said the man grabbed the woman and her daughter from behind as they were getting out and showed a gun.
The woman screamed, alerting the off-duty officer, who ran to her aid, authorities said.
Police said the off-duty officer shot the man in the torso. The man ran off, collapsed outside and died in the hospital early Sunday, News 4 New York has learned.
The officer was taken to the hospital to be treated for trauma, authorities said.
The mother suffered minor injuries to her wrist but the child is OK, authorities said.
I think Goodwin is being sarcastic. Just missing the sarcasm tags:)
Too bad normal NYC residents don’t have this right.
Well isn't that special. Literally. Too bad that only police in NYC are entitled to defend themselves and their families.
It is a travesty the peasants of NYC don't.
In third world places you only have peasants and the elite, no middle class.
I really love that show.

Police have a lot more rights in NYC than the common man. Were this you or me being mugged in an elevator, we would have been denied the use of a gun by horrible NYC gun laws, gun these police enforce and fully support.
Those who support evil laws are not unambiguously “good guys” no matter what anyone says.
I lived in NY, I was mugged in NY, several times, always by armed felons. I tried to buy a gun and was mocked by the clerks at the only gun store in Manhattan, right next to police headquarters. “You’re not a cop, are you?”
The story says the mugger showed a gun. But watch the RINO king, Bloomberg launch an investigation into the shooting. If he does, we’ll know the mugger was either black or an illegal.
Or any big-city citizen.
Off the main point, but what is a 3 year old doing out at 11:45 at night?
That was the same first reaction I had to the title... Very confusing to say the least.
“Too bad that only police in NYC are entitled to defend themselves and their families.”
True.
(note to self; never move to nor visit New York City)
These days, they carry me into the house. Or leave me on a couch somewhere and get me in the morning.

Unless you are an advocate of the NANNYSTATE, or a total busybody, that bit of information is none of anyones business.
Perhaps mom and dad went out for an evening and were returning from the babysitter.
Adios Carlos!
Going to a midnight basketball game?
“What does the perps color have to do with it?”
New to the world?
Gun control is a strawman issue to divert against the culture in which most gun violence is demographically home.
Here in Pennsylvania, Rendell talks about gun violence as being statewide. Yes, it is, in black neighborhoods, in Philly, black neighborhoods in Reading, in Pittsburgh etc.
The effort for so called home rule is an effort to approximate red lining black neighborhoods without having to say its black neighborhoods.
Without this subcultural problem, there would not be a gun control issue.
Facing up to it and saying in the light of day, is the only way to void the red lining code.

These maps are from the article titled "Anti-gun Promo Blackfires"
I think perhaps it should have been entitled, "The African Americans are slaughtering each other in our US Cities"
Baltimore, PROPER, which is reflected on the map is 64.34% Black or African American, 31.63% White.

These Baltimore Sun maps show a terrible problem but do not clarify who the murderers are.

Baltimore Sun map of BLACKS murdered, 2007: (264)

Baltimore Sun map of WHITES murdered, 2007: (12)
Of the 12, 6 were killed *downtown* while probably buying drugs. _______________________________________________________________
That's right a small percentage of people, generally gangs and drug dealers, in our large cities that cause the majority of the gun related homicides in the US. Do not allow this data to be covered up or hidden. Do not allow the gun control nutcases to take away your self defense weapons.

You nailed it!
