Democrats Come Together To Tear Their Party in Half
The Washington Post ^ | 6/1/08 | Dana Milbank

Posted on 06/01/2008 3:11:34 PM PDT by Dawnsblood

Representing Michigan, state Democratic Chairman Mark Brewer suggested that Obama get nearly half of the state's delegates -- even though his name wasn't on the ballot. This started the bickering all over again.

"This committee cannot use the results of such a flawed primary to assign delegates," said Obama representative David Bonior to a blend of cheers, boos and hisses.

"Throwing the insult, if you will, at the Michigan primary that it was flawed," committee member Donald Fowler said, "is not appropriate."

Only Sen. Carl Levin of Michigan had an irrefutable point. "We've got a totally irrational system of nominating our president," he said.

Over disruptive cheering, the committee voted 15 to 12 against a proposal to give Florida full voting representation. Clinton supporters in the audience erupted in a chant of "Denver! Denver!" -- a threat to take the fight to the convention in August.

That was followed by a unanimous vote to give Florida half of its voting rights. The audience again erupted in heckling. "Lipstick on a pig!" somebody shouted.

"Please conduct yourselves like proper men and women," committee member Alice Huffman suggested.

Not a chance. The panel went on, by a vote of 19 to 8, to give Michigan half of its votes -- and to give Obama the gift of delegates that the voters of the state had not given him.

Ickes was enraged. "I am stunned that we have the gall and the chutzpah to substitute our judgment for 600,000 voters," he told his peers. "Was the process flawed? You bet your ass that it was flawed. . . . You bet your ass a lot of people didn't vote." Ickes accused the committee of "hijacking" delegates -- "not a good way to start down the path of party unity."

One thing for sure Howard Dean doesn’t have the wisdom of King Solomon.... or is it the Widsom of Solomon would not work with the two Democratic Candidates for President...Neither Hillary nor Obama care enough about the party to step aside and save their party. Life is Good.

I agree, like some poster stated before, this may be the first election I sit home and drink a beer. I have supported the Republicans thru thick and thin, I can not in good conscience vote for McShamesty. He goes against I am for except the war. The shame is, I now live in Wisconsin, which is a toss up state. How did we get such a anti conservative as a candidate?

::::::
Of course they do not care, really ABOUT ANYTHING except POWER AND CONTROL. These are Marxists and Socialists. They could not care one spot about this country, its people, what the people want or need. These grifters only survive because of the complicit MSM and they have the kool-aid drinking, non-thinking losers that represent the mindless DemoRat voters. Joseph Stalin could be their nominee and the would vote for him because he would wear the DemoRat label....

What we see here in this election is very interesting. The obvious intricacies aside (that being first woman and first african american mainstream candidates), we are seeing the destruction and division of both parties. We have the war of the lefties between Hillary and Obama, as well as the division that we see between the true conservatives and the RINOs. It will be very interesting to see how this all plays out in the end...which factions will emerge as the dominant hands.

I am wondering, is there a website which gives, chronologically, the primary/caucus results?

I am trying to remember: Obama has won only a few (two? three?) since the VA win and I would like to take a look at the progression of this vote.

Anyone have any clues to where there is such a site?

Thank you, freepers,

McVey

Only Sen. Carl Levin of Michigan had an irrefutable point. "We've got a totally irrational system of nominating our president," he said.

First they blow a presidential recount in 2000. Now, the RATS can't find either cheek with either hand in the nomination process.

Coming to a town near you? Watch out.

Torn in half?

For week after week Obama said next week I’m going to say I won, while the MSM says Obama already won and derides Hillary, for they love Obama and/or are in his backers’ pockets.

They sound united in voice...

+side - visiting Hillary sites and read them decry the monlithic pro-Obama spin in the MSM.

What do you expect from a totally irrational ideology?
