I Read What Happened & All I Got Were Half-Truths [McClellan]
National Review ^ | June 2, 2008 | Mark Hemingway

And having read the book, I have to hand it to McClellan. In a genre as routinely and justly derided as the Washington memoir, it takes a special talent to produce a specimen that even by those standards is this flaming-dirigible bad.

It’s usually the sign of a weak reviewer that he feels the need to extrapolate some sort of psychoanalysis from the text, but in McClellan case it’s unavoidable. In fact, once I began reading McClellan’s book, I had to seek outside counsel to confirm my suspicions about his precarious mental state. Political consultant Mary Matalin — no stranger to the Bush White House — put it to me this way: “It’s like Scott’s going through some bizarre self-actualization process. He went on a spiritual journey and ended up in Hades.”

Entertaining review - I know we should forget about a vapid loser like McClellan, but while he is still out on the talk show circuit flogging his book, it is fun to see him taken apart.....

Also enjoyed this bit:

"At the end of the first chapter, which reads like his literary agent forced him at gunpoint to down a bottle of tequila and then summarize the Wikipedia article on the Valerie Plame affair as uncritically as possible...."

I wish someone big would write/say that they “checked his book at the library” as it appears to be like a bad Hollywood hyped movie so wanted to read before buying!

Great Review. This clown will be remembered as the dimmest bulb to ever hold the job. A classic deer in the headlights of the world’s highest office.

It reflects poorly on the President ONLY in that fact that this idiot continued in the position for so long. Honestly, do they come any dumber than this guy?

I think this is the weak link in the socialist grab to undermine Dubya since he first put his hand on the Bible.

... Tonight , Chris Matthews was swallerin’ his own spit he was so excited extrapulatining from Scott such juicy assuming conclusions.

When this is known in detail, the truths that are Bush will expose this and the sea of sameness throughout his presidency.

Among the notable players of the Plame scandal — Wilson, Novak, Libby, Rove, Cheney, Fitzgerald, Miller et al. — did anyone see McClellan as anything other than a White House turnspit with delusions of adequacy who happened into the wrong job at the wrong time, and otherwise had little to do with driving the story? We’re talking bit player, not “prominent supporting actor.”

Mr. Stick Figure would have been a better press secretary!

You are one goodhearted, and goodnatured person.

I’m not here as much as I’d like to be, but I do love your postings.
