Bank Robber Holds Gun Backward During Crime

POSTED: 5:58 pm EDT June 2, 2008
UPDATED: 6:35 pm EDT June 2, 2008

Surveillance video of a bank robbery surprised detectives when it showed the bandit holding a gun in a strange manner, even backward during the holdup.

"(The robber) is holding it in a manner that he's probably not familiar with handguns and was afraid it was going to go off," Orange County sheriff's Detective Jason Sams said. "If that was a fake gun, he would be holding it normally because he wouldn't care." Investigators said the bandit was wearing a new Cleveland Indians baseball cap when he walked into the Fifth-Third bank on the corner of University Boulevard and Goldenrod Road.

The man then handed a bank teller a piece of paper before showing a weapon.

During the robbery, surveillance video showed the bandit holding the weapon in an unusual manner and then apparently pointing it at himself before walking out of the bank. Detectives said the man appears to be familiar with the area and may be from the University of Central Florida area.

Police also said the man had a T-shirt wrapped around his neck, possibly to cover up a tattoo. Anyone with information about the crime is urged to call Crimeline at 800-423-TIPS.

Probably trying to position himself to argue at trial that he wasn’t doing it at gun point.

Also, possibly aiming for an insanity defense.

The teller should have made a grab for the gun - he probably would have shot himself.

The video makes it look like he was showing the gun in a way so no one would notice. He also never pointed it at the teller. This could count in his favor in court, if he’s ever caught.

Can I say the "N" word now?

Like that negro has a "new hat", "knows what he's doing", and holds the gun like that because any white guy can hold it by the grips.

Good grief ... I'm more offended by the "news" peoples than that black guy.

At least the black dude may get on comedy central.

That’s a good argument... The gun did it.

Thank you  :-)

Your always-gracious and congenial nature is sincerely appreciated.

It seems to me that I had far better luck in finding articles during a search in times past.

"sigh"

If this is more than just another stoat-interfacing issue, I hope that a 'tweaking' of the search function might be considered by the Overseers sometime soon.
