A 12-year-old 6th-grader in Hutchinson, Minn., committed to an unusually brave mission for the month of April: he intended to wear T-shirts with a pro-life message to his middle school every day for a month.
His courage, however, was met with resistance. According to the boy's attorney, his principal and teachers told him "not to wear the T-shirts, publicly singled him out for ridicule in front of his classmates, removed him from class, sent him to the principal's office, forced him to turn his pro-life T-shirt inside out, and threatened him with suspension if he did not stop wearing the offending pro-life T-shirts."
Over the course of his one-month quest, the boy, identified only as K.B., was reprimanded by the school a dozen times. (snip)
K.B. began his T-shirt mission in honor of April 29th being designated "National Pro-Life T-shirt Day" by the American Life League, a group that calls itself the "largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States."

K.B. reported that he was first confronted on April 2nd by a teacher saying that the shirt "could be offensive." On April 4th he was sent to the principal's office because, his teacher said, the shirt was "inappropriate for class." In mid-April, K.B.'s mother reports, the school principal told her in a phone conversation that the shirts were forbidden because they had become a distraction and "some of the kids were starting to ask questions." On April 25th K.B. was threatened with in-school suspension.
When April 29th arrived, the day designated as "National Pro-Life T-shirt Day," the school principal called K.B.'s homeroom and ordered the boy to his office. "Why do you keep wearing those shirts when you know that they annoy me?" the principal allegedly asked.

The truth is annoying to the Liberal/Marxists.
So, students can go to class wearing shirts like “Coed Nude Cheerleading” or “Stop the hate - kill everyone” or “All your %#tches are belong to me”, but he can’t wear something expressing dislike for abortion.
Definately a public school.
May I assume that the so-called ACLU will not rush to the aid of this student? Perhaps he should just wear a “Che” T-shirt, then not only could he go to school, he could work for Obama.
Blooming idiot! Without more kids, that joker is out of a job! Relating it to a commercial enterprise for just a sec, what kind of shortsightedness makes it impossible to see that the ultimate end to your belief system leads to the closure of your industry due to lack of raw material to turn into finished product?
I am not sure we want our schools to be an environment where every kid with a political statement should be permitted to wear a tee-shirt proclaiming his or her ideology.
However, if we do permit the kid with the Pro-Life tee-shirt, we will also have to permit kids to wear Obama, Pro Choice and Anti War tee-shirts.

It's just a petty tyrant flexing their muscles.

If only our society still had a decent sense of modesty and decorum, students would be allowed to wear anything they wanted, guided by their own sensibilities!
If I wanted to wear a pro-life shirt, fine! I probably wouldn’t chose one that showed an abortion being performed, it’d probably say “Chose life, not death” or to that effect. If some kid wants to wear a pro-death shirt (okay, that term is biased haha) it could say “It’s my body not yours,” or something similar. No harm no foul.
The problem is that there is no decency and code of ethics anymore.
Given that school district policy is to allow students to wear clothes expressing political or religious opinions, the school doesn’t have a leg to stand on. No way in this day and age is there any kid old enough to read who isn’t already at least somewhat familiar with the abortion issue, so I don’t by the “disruptive” claim. Personally, though, I don’t think schools should allow clothing carrying any kind of “message”.
NOW WHERE IN THE HELL ARE THE PARENTS????? DOWN HERE, MY SON WAS GOING TO BE SUSPENDED FOR BEING LATE TO SCHOOL, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS OUR FAULT AS PARENTS. WE RAISED HOLY HELL WITH THE PRINCIPAL FOR PUNISHING HIM FOR OUR MISTAKES. ARE THE PARENTS SPINELESS SISSIES???? That seems to be the issue here, they don't want “every” kid to proclaim his or her ideology. Apparently the school only had a problem with this “annoying” message.
To be more complete: the quote is according to the journalist, who's quoting the lawyer, who's quoting the kid, who's quoting the principal.
Whatever the merits of the case as a whole, that's a pretty unreliable chain of evidence for what purports to be a crucial example of wrong-doing on the part of the school.
I never trust stories told from the perspective of the lawyer for the aggrieved party -- which this story is.
One cannot discount the possibility of that being one major component of the story....
Oh .. and to add one further bit of unreliability to the chain, the reporter comes from WingNut Doily, so you have to factor in his or her personal views on the topic, as well.
Here’s a content-neutral solution to ideological messages — public school uniforms!
The Conservatism I grew up with wouldn't have sat there and taken it like a bump on a log. I still think of the atheist shooter who turned the gun on himself after he realized the parishoners at that Colorado church were armed. People able to defend themselves, able to fight back, or, if meekness and turning the other cheek required, able to do that without whining about it.
I'm more and more convinced that even Christians and Conservatives now are relying too much on litigation and sympathy in their fights. They might get some money to help their cause, but, to be honest, I'm just fatigued at reading the latest outrage and not seeing our side fight back, laying there like some thai hooker in a bad porn film.
Once you open up the door in a public school to all political expression you will have kids wearing tee shirts with pictures of aborted babies as well as pictures of dead American troops in Iraq.
I am not sure that is a door I want to be open.
