Neo-Nazis for Israel (life imitates the Onion)

BERLIN – Shall wolves dwell with lambs? Israel received an unexpected surprise for its 60th birthday in the form of a new group rooting for its prosperity. The twist? They are neo-Nazis.

On May 15, the Gregorian date in which the State of Israel was established, a group called National Socialists for Israel launched its online manifest.

Wanted Wiesenthal Center releases list of most wanted Nazis / Associated Press Mauthausen camp's doctor Aribert Heim tops list of notorious suspects; Demjanjuk comes second Full story

"A strong nation is worthy of life; an ailing nation deserves death," it said, before detailing an ideology sporting the traditional Nazi concept of purity of the race on the one hand, and calling on National Socialists to let go of their hatred for Jews and support the Jewish people's right to their own homeland on the other.

"Deportations, pogroms and inquisitions were all understandable acts which were carried out by nations merely trying to defend themselves," said the website of past persecution of Jews.

"That is also the context in which the event called the 'Holocaust' must be viewed… This does not justify it. Instead of destroying the Jews we should have taken every measure possible to support the Zionist movement."

The group goes on to harshly criticize the Nazi regime as the cause of the "unnecessary rivalry" between Germany and its "brethren neighbors," and slams the current leaders of Germany's extreme right as "cowardly reactionaries."

'Stop spreading lies'

"The Jewish people still exist. Their national movement, supported by brave warriors has been able to form a state and expel foreign elements… For 60 year now, an army of young men and women has defended Israel against all foes," said the site.

Further supportive messages called for the Nazi party to "stop spreading anti Semitic lies about a worldwide Jewish plot" and demanded of anti Semites to "show us proof of Jewish domination over Germany and the world."

The website also tells of a gathering which took place on May 25 and included panels on solidarity with Israel, anti Semitism, and how to counter "the growing Islamic presence in Germany and around the world."

The group's public relations department has begun distributing stickers in Berlin depicting Israeli soldiers carrying the Israeli flag with the slogan - "A 2000-year struggle for survival. Respect those who have earned it."

Social experts following Germany's extreme right are skeptical of the new group, with some saying it is the product of a radical Left-wing-led provocation. Others, however, believe it may be a genuine new movement.

"There have always been fringe groups within Nazism that have supported a national home for the Jewish people, but the fact that they have a positive attitude towards Israel does not make them any less anti-Semitic," said Anita Kahana, who heads an foundation in Germany working against extreme right-groups.

"Mostly, they are trying to stir an ideological provocation," she added.

Ilan Mor of the Israeli Embassy in Berlin was appalled to learn of the story.

"We can handle our enemies just fine, but God save us from friends like these," he said, calling the group "absolutely preposterous."

This is freaking weird. As far out as it sounds, I think I might agree with the conspiracy theorists who think this is some anti-Israel, pro-Arab front group trying to make Israel look bad. Not only do I not want support from scum like this, I also can't believe that a bunch of Neo-Nazis sat around one day and said "gee, Hitler had the wrong idea to kill Jews. He should have just support ed the Zionist movement."

My guess is that this is a farce set up by some left-wing group trying link Israel to Nazism so that “Palestinians” can be thought of as “victims of the Israeli occupation.” It fits in well with the present-day left’s ideology.

I daresay it is a joke.

If not, it greatly reminds me of that Persian saying: “God save me from a clever enemy - and a stupid friend.”

Well, isn't this exactly what Obama is saying? Don't look at who he is, listen to what he says. Never mind that he is friends with Farrakhan, Wright, and now Phleger. Forget that he supported Hamas and has been endorsed by one of their spokesmen. Forget that he wants to have unconditional talks with Achphlem-minime.

He spoke at AIPAC so he must be a friend to Israel.

You have good reason to be suspicious. Then again, I thought an even stranger story was that Israel has neo-nazis living within its borders. I guess if people of Jewish ancestry can become neo-nazis, maybe there really are neo-nazis that have become pro-Israel.

Not that you’d want their support...

AND in other news ...

Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Rights Action League (NARAL) announced a new ‘Sanctity of Life’ campaign in behalf of all unborn children, “these precious little ones are our future.”

Now THERE is some tag-line material!

Nice hijack attempt...

But if you really mean to do it, the better analogy is not that PP and NARAL start supporting Sanctity of Life, but rather that they start supporting a campaign to have all the would-have-been-aborted babies to be exiled to some far-away land where they have have their own country.

These German Nazis are not suddenly welcoming the Jews into their lives. They're merely acknowledging that the Jews have successfully formed and defended a nation -- far, far away from Germany.

What a load of crap. If it’s pro-jewish it ain’t Nazi. I say it’s lefties/pro-Arabs provocateurs trying to links Israel with Nazism, so the Palestinians are the new “Holocaust victims”. Puke.

Those Neo-Nazis in Israel are mostly Russian immigrants who were let in after the end of the Soviet Union, and who often aren’t jewish at all.

"the growing Islamic presence in Germany and around the world."

Ah, even the saubloed (sow stupid) neo-Nazis have come around to recognizing the Islamic threat. So, who's survived the longest in the face of the Islamic threat? Israel. Let's learn from Israel on how to survive and triumph in the face of the Islamic threat.

This just shows that even for the most stupid people, the blinders eventually fall off.

I don’t know. There were many Nazis who convinced themselves that Hitler’s ultimate plan was to exile all Jews to Madagascar. They were mostly delusional fools, but it was something many supported at the time.

I never attempted any such thing, you expressed that sentiment far better than I could have, LOL ;)

Seriously, point taken and a good one it is.

It’s my understanding that those Israeli neo-nazis have at least one Jewish ancestor. The fact that such a person living in Israel can become a neo-nazi still sounds absurd to me.

My only point is: Strange things do happen. But the suspicions about this group should be completely warranted.

There are thousands of Russians without Jewish ancestry (”at least one ancestor” is also rather vague and hard to prove) that have entered Israel and also Germany because of favorable conditions on the pretext of being of Jewish origin. Jewish emigration offices profited from bringing large numbers of emigrants from former Soviet states, so they let in also non-Jews. It’s a rather well know problem in Israel.
