Assuming that your enemy can control the air. In Iraq, our enemy has NO air power, thus making it a moot point.

Why doesn't the enemy have any air power in Iraq?

Answer - because we used our superior air power to destroy it in the first Gulf War.

I agree with both of the previous posters. You can't establish control of the ground until you control the air and you can't establish a victory without boots on the ground.

Ok, that’s just dumb. We’re talking about terrorists here, not nation states. Al Qaeda doesn’t have an air force.

I too agree, and I’m wondering what this has to do with the allegations. Our bomber tanker, fighter, logistical, and drone aircraft have been used to the max in Iraq and Afghanistan. What’s the beef?

Army Navy, Marines, National guard, etc are in the same boat. I guess I need to read the article.

Initial appearance is, someone has a screw loose, and it does not appear to be the Air Force.

I agree also with you and previous post. We must control the air and the sea to win away from home. I was addressing our current situations and a lot of the 3rd world frays we are/will be involved in. On the flip side, we do need to keep up with modern technology and not forget about China and Russia either. My point was exactly the converse. There were many “thinkers” who perpetuated a myth of winning conflicts through air power alone.
