I was feeling down by Charlton Heston’s passing. I guess I’ll have to look to Clint for encouragement now.
Of course in the first three Die Hard movies none of the bad guys were terrorists. They were thieves and mercenaries. The last one had a motivation where Muslim terrorists wouldn't fit.

The Czechs in Pilzen are still grateful, despite the communists trying to wipe out that knowledge during the Cold War. They hold a liberation festival every year. US veterans of the liberation are extremely welcome, and your uncle probably won't be allowed to pay for a beer or a meal.

That would be great, except my uncle passed away in 1966, he was only 54 at the time. Guess I should have posted 'my late uncle'.
Sorry to hear that. Still, you could go with pictures of your uncle and stories of how he fought there. You will probably be accorded the same hospitality. They do it every year. And if you're a beer drinker the original Budweiser beer is in plentiful supply there (and a whole lot better than the version here), besides, pilsner beer is named after the city.

So, Spike knows history huh? Spike knows about the MOST FAMOUS PHOTO in all of World War 2 huh? Spike believes there were four Marine flag raisers in that photo. Such an embarrassment for someone like him with his sharp Hollywood director's eye and all.

There were black marines at Iwo.
To quote the National Park Service
African-American troops played a significant role in the capture of Iwo Jima. Negro drivers served in the Army DUKW units active throughout the landing. Black Marines of the 8th Ammunition Company and the 36th Depot Company landed on D-day, served as stevedores on those chaotic beaches, and were joined by the 33d and 34th Depot Companies on D+3. These Marines were incorporated into the VAC Shore Party which did Herculean work sustaining the momentum of the American drive northwards. When Japanese counterattacks penetrated to the beach areas, these Marines dropped their cargo, unslung their carbines, and engaged in well-disciplined fire and maneuver, inflicting more casualties than they sustained. Two Marines, Privates James W. Whitlock and James Davis, received the Bronze Star. Said Colonel Leland S. Swindler, commanding the VAC Shore Party, the entire body of black Marines “conducted themselves with marked coolness and courage.”
