No matter what November brings, Barack Obama has managed to accomplish something no Republican has done since 1980: He has wrung a concession speech out of the Clintons.
Clintonite dead-enders may never forgive him for it. As Hillary Rodham Clinton suspended her presidential campaign and pledged to back the man who defeated her in the Democratic delegate race, there was a smattering of boos the first time Obama's name was mentioned. Nevertheless, Hillary intoned, "I endorse him, and throw my full support behind him. And I ask all of you to join me in working as hard for Barack Obama as you have for me."
The era of Bill's government is over -- for now, at least.
Hillary Clinton was supposed to be the inevitable nominee. She led in the early polls and the first superdelegate tallies. Obama stumbled in the summer and fall of 2007, raising questions about whether such an inexperienced candidate could possibly compete with the Clinton machine. In October 2007, Hillary led Obama 57 percent to 33 percent among black registered Democrats. She was the choice of 68 percent of black women voters.
Then a funny thing happened on the way to the Clinton restoration. Obama won the Iowa caucuses. Hillary finished third. Her image of inevitability was forever shattered. Black voters, sensing a historic opportunity, began moving en masse to Obama. The Clinton campaign found itself ill prepared for a long, drawn-out contest with a freshman senator they planned to dispatch quickly. Mark Penn famously misunderstood how California's delegates were allocated. The Clintons took a pass on the caucus states, allowing Obama's young and enthusiastic supporters to out-hustle them for delegates.
Bill Clinton's famous political skills failed him. The man Toni Morrison called our "first black president" displayed a tin ear for African Americans.

From my perspective, I can say “grudgingly” fits the bill.
I thought of how George Bush got so much flack for saying "This guy's crazy" when Clinton said that. It is so fine that the Clintons were taken down by their own arrogance--they thought they could say anything and didn't need those "little" state caucuses to take the nomination which was due her.
Unless McCain goes totally bonkers between now and November, he will win handily no matter how many of us conservatives dislike the SOB.
Obama will not survive the withering fire that will soon come his way... It’s going to be a wild ride 2DV!!!

The MSM will do back flips to simply admit that Black Folks voted for Obama because he is Black.
The Democrat’s process could be predicted after WI, demographically, Obamao would win Blacks and Youths Rich Libs, Hilde won “everyone else” and won the popular vote easily.
The “MSM” will NEVER emphasize the Obamo’s limited appeal.
Obama has more money than anyone’s EVER seen in this election: They say cash is the mother’s milk of politics, FRiend, which means Obama can play the whole table while McCain has to play defense in the battleground states. Plus, this Obama thing is like a cult more than just a campaign...
What really worries me is that the MSM has thrown away all pretense of being “fair”. Here in Louisville, the Communist Journal (a Gannett paper) has Obama on the front page, above the fold, EVERY DAY. The local TV stations have 2 - 4 stories on Obama and Hillary and nothing on Republicans. Oh wait, I take that back, they had a story on this morning about people blaming Republicans for high gas prices.
The black voter was shoved to Obama by bubba’s thinly veiled racism.
Until his jesse jackson remarks, most blacks were firmly in hillary’s column.
I disagree Carley, Obama won a Super Majority, almost a plurality of Black Voters in every election after winning in South Carolina, the only state with a heavy black population that he lost was NY, and that was Hillary home turf.
What is most telling is there was not a single time that Hillary and Obamao split the black vote, it was always 92%+ for Obama, never 35%-61% as it was often among Hispanics.
The problem is that Obambi did not defeat the Clintons the Main stream media did . If I have learned anyhing these past 16 years is that the Media and the Democrats usually get what they want . If you need proof tell me how much are you paying for gas ? There is a real Conservative leading the Republican party to a Victory in November right ? There is a Supreme court righting all the wrongs of the past 50 years right? You all feel so good about the Future of our country right ?
Yeah Right
The comments made by bubba following the South Carolina win turned the tide, IMO
The Clinton's "sofened him up" with the help of the MSM, but that help is gone now that he's the last dem standing. McCain won't lay a finger on him. The MSM will make sure of that...
Not being a political guru by any means, but simply someone who has been observing politics, elections and human nature since I first voted in 1964, I would lay 5 - 1 odds that Her Thighness is NOT going to work as hard for B. Hussein's campaign as she vowed to.
The first clue? Her "SUSPENDING" her campaign as opposed to completely "WITHDRAWING."
"The way to continue our fight now, to accomplish the goals for which we stand is to take our energy, our passion, our strength, and do all we can to help elect Barack Obama, the next president of the United States.
Today, as I suspend my campaign, I congratulate him on the victory he has won and the extraordinary race he has run. I endorse him and throw my full support behind him."
Yeah, right. If anyone believes that load of horse droppings, well, I've probably got something valuable in the attic I'm willing to part with for lots of $$$.
Of course you wouldn't know it from the LameSream Media as well as cable news. They are all referring to it as Clinton's withdrawal. Not so.
I (and many other astute Freepers, no doubt) believe this was no a play on words, but intentional in that she hopes he stumbles badly before the convention and then she will humbly offer herself as the only alternative.
I think Hillary’s “Martin Luther King” dig was the straw that broke the camel’s back...
I agree that osamabama is/will be a disaster. I am just not convinced that mccainiac isn’t just as much of one.
Your right about obama’s massive money advantage! His campaign has indeed reached cult levels...
Both he(who’s middle name must not be spoken) AND McCain have huge negatives... we both know it’s going to be triple XXX nasty!
Yet it IS going to boil down to race. He is the wrong black man to break that barrier. His whole life is easily traced. From the Marxist beliefs, the muslim issue, his racist beliefs, and on, and on, and on. The DNC must be defecating little green apples trying to deal with the reality that they have allowed this enemy of America to come this far!
Yes the money means he could win big over McCain. Yet these piles of silver coin will be hard pressed to overcome that barrier mentioned. My former union brothers, the majority democrats, that I still talk with, to a man, will not vote for a black for President. Especially this one.
I have yet to meet an obama supporter in all my circles of Friends, Business associates, Family, or those I meet in other endeavors. obama’s cult is out there, I just have not met one in the real world...
I mean what kind of firestorm would start if the guy said “Those who do not vote for Obama are racist, so the election is invalidated.”?
That and all it will take is one McCain meltdown and he is gone.
Don't count on it. The Republicans tend to go wobbly and play nice instead of getting down and dirty when needed. And of course the press will be solidly behind Obama. I hope you are correct, but I am not holding my breath.
I would like a poll put out here (Jim Robinson - is thta possible?) in which Freepers are asked whether or not they believe Hillary is “out” as the Democratic Party nomiee for President in 2008, or something to that effect.
My bet is that the overwhelming majority of Freepers do NOT believe it.
As you and many observed - she only said she “suspended her campaign”.
Of course that means she will now be working (underground, through her mafia associates) to “unsuspend” her campaign.
Anyone who has observed the lawless ones over the past decades understands that the Clintonistas’ thirst for ultimate power has not been satisfied and will not be until her heinous sits on her (regained) throne in our White House!
