32% Angry About Immigration, but Not Mad at Immigrants Friday, June 13, 2008
One-third of U.S. voters are still angry about illegal immigration, an issue that neither presidential candidate has made central to his campaign. But, voters blame Washington, not immigrants (see video).
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that along with the 32% who express "anger," an additional 27% are frustrated with the lack of action. Thirty-nine percent (39%) say it’s just one of many issues they have an opinion about.
Eighty-three percent (83%) of those angry about immigration direct their anger at the federal government while only 12% point towards the immigrants. This fact, perhaps more than any other, may explain how official Washington misread the public mood so badly last June. While the Senators believed they were solving the problem, voters believed that the government was the problem.

I think this is another Rassmussen special — probably took the poll at the border in San Diego.
I don’t blame the illegals but I don’t excuse them. However the most guilty parties sit in DC and boardrooms.
That number seems real low. I would say about 75% of the people I talk to are mad as hell over illegal immigration.
The American populace has the attention span of a 5-year old. And that might just be an insult to 5-year olds.
50% of the LA Unified School District doesn’t even speak English, and the best we can must is 33% of the populace with any burning sentiment whatsoever?
I guess that’s why we ended up with McCain... *sigh*

How misleading. They’re not angry about immigration, they’re angry about ILLEGAL immigration.
I’m with the group that doesn’t blame the immigrants (at least the hard working ones who don’t hate the US). I’d do the same thing if I was dirt poor, had no hope for my family, and the US didn’t seem to care that I entered illegaly.
Blame lies in Washington.
And the rest are drooling on themselves, in a drunken stupor, watching NASCARs go in circles or making a profits off illegals.
This is consistent with other recent polling data showing that an overwhelming majority of voters believe the federal government itself has become a special interest group that looks out primarily for its own interest.
Yeah? Well, it would be nice if that was reflected at the ballot box.
I'm willing to say there's a good deal of LEGAL immigration I'm plenty mad about. The H1-B program that advertises jobs never intended for Americans that has kept my husband's salary stagnant for ten years, the other programs that drive down the wages of low income Americans to the point where they won't work any more, the open doors to people who have no love for America and no intention of assimilating - the list goes on.

But I don’t know if the bought and paid for pols in Congress can be scared off it again after the November vote, no matter how many phone calls they receive. It’s be tougher than last time to stop amnesty for all.

I’m not particularly angry at illegal immigrants themselves, like the ones I see working in hotels or doing yard work. I figure if they don’t speak any English and look Aztec, probably illegal. They are generally polite, hardworking people. However I have great antipathy for the business, legal, and political elites who have developed their bulletproof system to exploit illegal labor and pass the social costs onto everyone else.

They don't have to. It is very clear where Juan MxCain stands on this issue. Little Juan spouted a load of crap about "learning his lesson" in regards to amnesty for illegal aliens and he was lying his azz off. The defeat of the amnesty bill was one of the biggest smackdown of politicians by the American public in history. But little Juan is right back on the side of the illegals AGAIN in his open support for amnesty.
After adjusting his immigration stance when his comprehensive immigration bill died last summer, John McCain, now with the Republican nomination in hand, has once again ruffled conservative feathers on the immigration issue by returning to the position that almost stopped his campaign dead in its tracks.
Mr. McCain joined California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger last week in supporting a "comprehensive" immigration plan that would address the problem "in a humane and compassionate fashion."
"Sen. [Edward] Kennedy and I tried very hard to get immigration reform, a comprehensive plan, through the Congress of the United States," Mr. McCain stated. "We must make it a top agenda item."

Obama believes we must fix the dysfunctional immigration bureaucracy and increase the number of legal immigrants to keep families together and meet the demand for jobs that employers cannot fill.
Eliminate the waiting periods and pass out amnesty now. Give away American jobs.
Obama supports a system that allows undocumented immigrants who are in good standing to pay a fine, learn English, and go to the back of the line for the opportunity to become citizens.
What line? Learn English? Fat chance.
Obama joined Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) to introduce the Citizenship Promotion Act to ensure that immigration application fees are both reasonable and fair.
Make citizenship through amnesty cheap.
Obama introduced amendments to put greater emphasis on keeping immigrant families together.
Chain migration.
Either way we are sunk. The illegal aliens are going to get an amnesty and having come from a socialist society they will vote for whoever promises the most welfare, government health care, food stamps, government housing (ie commie democrat) with no more thought than farting at the park on a breezy day.
If it’s true, it means that Americans who oppose open borders are NOT motivated by RACISM and HATE. It means they are motivated by the desire for national security and the rule of law.
So thats what you've been doing lately. We've noticed you haven't been around as much.
for the most part i agree... it's truly a case of hate the sin not the sinner because if i was born in a sh!thole like where most of them come from i'd do everything in my power to get myself and my family the hell out of there too.(not talking about true criminals) that said... i want the out of HERE TOO!!!
