FALLON, Nev. (AP) -- Two fighter jets from the U.S. Navy's elite training school collided Friday over northern Nevada's high desert, killing one pilot and injuring two others who parachuted to safety.
The pilot who died was based at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach, Va., said Jeffery Wells, a spokesman at Fallon Naval Air Station. He was at the controls of an F/A-18C Hornet at the time of the crash.

Prayers for the families of those involved.
Sounds like the agressor crew survived.
Just another indication of how dangerous the job is, even far away fromn the actual battlefield, our armed forces personnel are involved in in many cases.
I will pray for them Mr. Jazzy.
Please update this thread when more info is available.
Very sad and I’m sorry to read this.
Kind wishes to the family for strength to deal with this tragedy.
These guys are studs. Rest in peace.

RIP Navy Pilot
Prayers up for the 2 injured Navy Pilots.
The picture from the Detroit River, taken from the infamous Duck Factory is about two miles due east from the Grosse Ile Navy Air Station, the training base for many Navy carrier based pilots, including G.H.W.Bush.
The GINAS is pictured here. The circle, called an aerodrome, was used to simulate an aircraft carrier's deck, with markers, so the fliers were always taking off and landing into the prevailing wind.
It is one cool piece of history here in Michigan, which has lots of cool history and lots of problems today, unfortunately. If you know where you're looking, you can see my house in this picture.
Such sad news. Our prayers for the pilots and for their families.
Oh! i have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on silver-laughtered wings:
Sunward iv’e climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things you have Not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov-ring there
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long delirious burning blue,
I’ve topped the windswept heights with easy grace
Where never lark or even eagle flew-
And, while with silent lifting mind I’ve trod
The high, untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.
Rest In Peace.
Took a look at it on Google Earth. Pretty cool.
Please post your replies to Mr. Jazzy
