I'm not surprised that McCain didn't show up. The Texas GOP, for the most, is very conservative and he has told them he doesn't want their help or support.

McCain snubbed the Virginia convention in May, also.

....remember the “uncola” advertising campaign? McCain is going to campaign as the “unRepublican”......he will take conservative votes if he can get them......but he will run as an independent of the center/right, Left.
....conservatives don’t have a dog in this fight.

Unless he reverses policy on cap and trade, drilling in ANWR, and the ethanol boondoggle, he's just going to alienate more people -- well, at least the ones that don't vote for a candidate because he "has better music."

"I didn't support McCain," she said. "But I have to now. He's our candidate. It seems like he should be here." "I didn't support him...[but] It seems like he should be here." Seems like she's a little full of herself.

I'm curious... I've seen "Obama" bumper stickers. Has anyone sighted a "McCain" bumper sticker? Kind of telling...I wouldn't put one on my car either.
VOTE MCCAIN - BECAUSE SOCIALISM STILL SUCKS
VOTE MCCAIN - BECAUSE THE ALTERNATIVE IS TOO STUPID TO CONSIDER
VOTE MCCAIN - BECAUSE...WELL...JUST BECAUSE!

McCain wants the Conservative vote, he wants the Conservative’s money.
What will he do in return.
Not a damn thing.

"Texas' vote is probably not a question mark."
McCain's people are missing the boat - sure, we'll vote for the guy over Obama, but nobody is going to be ponying up cash, working phone banks, or putting up yard signs.
In a close election, volunteers will make the difference. McCain's precious independents just aren't the types to work in a campaign, because if they were that committed, they wouldn't be independent.

Has anyone sighted a "McCain" bumper sticker? Nope. But I've seen a few Obama stickers. By the way, I live in a "red" county in a 'blue" state.

In a close election, volunteers will make the difference. Well said. I have been saying the same thing but seems like talking to a brick wall. McCain, having been in the DC bubble just doesn't understand how important the grass root troops are to any one running for office. If you can't get your base out you aren't going to get anyone else out. I have noticed that when McCain does address a group there really isn't much enthusiasm or energy. I would love to be able to get out there and help but he doesn't want it.

Way to fire up the faithful, senator!

Has anyone sighted a "McCain" bumper sticker?I've got this one, which perfectly sums up the mood of the Tx convention delegates:
I've seen maybe ONE "official" McCain sticker on a car so far (and I live in a majority-GOP town).

My suggestion is that we snub McCain in the general. My opinion is that McCain is no better than Obama. If you have any doubts wait till he gets done speaking to the racist LaRaza convention. The GOP is run by RINOs and deserves to be disbanded.
