Watts said he is still a Republican, but he criticizes his party for neglecting the black community.

what gorp!
He must have been taken out of context or such..

like when the big bad epublicans neglected them back in the 50s and 60s and pushed thru civil rights legislation against dem challenges. How’s that Great Society working out for all the poor black neglected as well?
Oh yeah, Obama deserves a good look, , that’s the ticket. (/gorp)
Probably the first time in his pathetic little life he’s been proud of his country.
Republicans have reached out and essentially been pushed away. It is a waste or time, sad to say.
I thought this article was almost a joke when I first read it. I had admired Watts and Williams before. Now they have gone down many steps in my book. Same with Joseph Phillips. Very sad.
Come on Armstrong, buck up! BHO is a con artist. Don't fall for him. I am white and I would consider it a privilege to vote for former Lt. Gov. Steel. I won't give BHO the time of day. Save your vote for a decent man like Steel. You will be far more proud of yourself afterwords I guarantee it.
"I think people who try to put this sort of messianic mantle on Barack's nomination are a little bit misguided," he said.
Well at least Steele gets it.
I feel absolutely betrayed by Watts and Williams. I think both spoke at CPAC more than once and said they stood with us. Both have supported a strong defense, low taxes, personal freedom, and the right to life. Now just because Obama is half black they are going to vote for him? He is diametrically opposed to them on just about every issue. What kind of principles do these men have??
If Rush Limbaugh minions can't carry an election, the 5% to 10% of blacks who are conservative or even moderate aren't going to do the job.
I would like to ask Mr. Williams what would cause him to vote for someone who has gushed over policies that have destroyed the black subculture as effectively as the institution of slavery.
Any bets on how Condi Rice votes once she’s in the privacy of the voting booth?
I like(d) J.C. Watts. Thought he had more brains than this.
What personal background information are you shocked about?
Good grief, how disappointing.
Check your principles at the door.
I am (obviously) female but never gave a moment’s thought to voting for Hilary Clinton. Never in a million years.
That's not incredible, it's just STUPID! Why vote for someone who represents everything with which one disagrees JUST because he or she shares a skin color?
What would Armstrong Williams say if someone said "I don't agree with John McCain, and I don't like what he advocates, but I'm gonna vote for him cause he's the white guy." That is just as stupid. And saying you're doing it because of history is even MORE stupid, because there's a lot riding on this election, and history is the least of the issues. We're talking about the security of the nation with this one, and the political future as determined by actions taken by the Supreme Court. If Obama is elected, he WILL get the chance to fill two, if not three positions on the court. This could set up another whole generation of liberal activist decisions, and we've only just begun to come out of the hole dug in the 70's and 80's by the previous liberal activist majority, since we've gotten a very slim majority of original intent justices on the Court in the last six years.
I don’t think that race is trumping politics in the case of Williams and Watts. They, like us, just can’t see pulling the lever for McCain. Can’t say I blame them.
Every whore has a price that will settle the deal.
And I feel disappointed and duped!
The fact that so many blacks who are such absolute imbeciles are sought out for public comments is frightening.
Any black with the most rudimentary intelligence should be embarrased by these people. They should be embarrassed by the metrosexual puke who presumes to represent them. But I guess you can't expect too much. A lot of these blockheads also claimed the hapless OJ was innocent.
I always liked him, too, and am surprised.
