Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Fayssal Mekdad said on Saturday that Syria has the "non-peaceful" means to retrieve the Golan Heights - which Israel captured from Syria during the 1967 Six-Day War - should peace talks with Israel fail to achieve that goal.
Mekdad, a former Syrian ambassador to the United Nations, told the Jordanian newspaper Ad-Dustour that Israelis living in the Golan Heights, whom he termed "settlers," must know that Syria would "defend its land within minutes."
Mekdad also reiterated to Israelis living in the area that the Golan is Syrian territory and that they are "forbidden from raising children there, because it is not their place and they will not be able to reside there."
He then asked rhetorically, "What is preferable - liberating the Golan through peace and without bloodshed or liberating the land through war? We are not afraid of launching a peace process with Israel."

yeah the famous ME peace , its quite between reloading
It won’t be much use to you when it’s GLOWING, Feysal.
When you start a war, and lose a bunch of land because you get your ass kicked, that land isn’t yours anymore.
Ummm, Syria, it ain’t your land anymore. You attacked them. You lost and were pushed OUT of that land. It’s theirs. If you would have won, it would have stayed yours. But you didn’t.
Again, not your damn land anymore. You lost it.
Mekdad also reiterated to Israelis living in the area that the Golan is Syrian territory and that they are “forbidden from raising children there, because it is not their place and they will not be able to reside there.”
Syria is so out of its league when dealing with Israeli military might.
Oh, yeah ... talking with those mutts will be fruitful.
Isn’t there an Arab blessing for Israel something like “Blessed is Israel if we did not have them to hate we would kill each other”
Indeed. The next time they pick a fight with the Israelis, they'll be whining to get Damascus back.
“It wont be much use to you when its GLOWING, Feysal.”
Golan won’t be glowing. Damascus? well, that’s another matter entirely.
Damascus glowing like glass would be mid-east beautification..
It won't be the Golan that is glowing. But some place nearby, starting with a D, will save the region untold electricity costs.
Take Damascus, then they’ll willingly give up all claims to the Golan.
Tell that to the Israeli government. They’re the ones who don’t seem to understand the concept of conquering land.
If the Israeli government had any gonads, they wouldn't be negotiating our conquered land in the first place.
It's not just the current one. The government in '67 made a dreadful mistake not repatriating the Jordanian citizens of the West Bank to their own country. War isn't Monopoly - at the end of the game, you don't put the money and tokens back in the box.
