Are Democrats Dumber than Dolphins?
Townhall ^ | June 15, 2008 | Kevin McCullough

Posted on 06/14/2008 10:30:33 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

In an all out assault against the working poor, the struggling families, and the common decency of the citizens of America this week Nancy Pelosi gave the order for Democrats to stab the American voter in the back. Her orders were carried out. Thus Congressional Democrats proved a naked willingness to injure America in a play for power, or alternately proving unsurpassed stupidity.

In either case they were also shown up by a cute squiggly girl named Kelly - a dolphin.

Off the gulf coast at the Marine Mammals Studies Institute in Mississippi, Kelly has made quite a name for herself. Some time back the trainers at the Institute began programming the dolphins to help keep their own pool and living areas clean by training them to remove debris, paper, and other items of trash from the pool. And just like our parents used to do if we kept our rooms clean, they got a reward - a tasty fresh fish.

But Kelly took it one step further. Something in Kelly's brain told her that there were limited amounts of fish in the pool she lived in, she wasn't sure how long she would be there, but she knew that the currency of those pieces of paper represented a meal each time she found one.

As a result during the week Kelly would find papers stuck in this corner of the pool or this piece of plastic and went so far as to organize a place to store them under her favorite rock. She knew then that if she used only what she needed that she could plan for the future, and with some restraint have a supply of meals that would last far into the future.

In other words this dolphin, sensed the conditions of her circumstances, basically figured out a way to understand the principle of currency, began to save and then budget so that she could rely on herself thus her circumstances would be insured or improved over time.

"So simple a dolphin can do it?"

Given that we are told how smart elected politicians are, and how we must trust them to spend our money more wisely on our behalf than we would - one has to wonder if Kelly can figure such things out why can't Pelosi's posse of thugs in the House of Representatives!

This week while Kelly was busy being a good conservative, Pelosi's iron fist was shutting down the opportunity to do the very same thing - for humans.

Given the fact that liberals in Washington continue to whine and complain about the degree of groveling we as a nation are doing with middle eastern suppliers of energy - you'd think they'd be the very first people supporting, even advocating for, the chance for us to find our own supplies of energy. Given the fact that we need to think of the future and what we have ahead of us - you'd think that energy exploration would be responsible use of elected officials time and attention. And given the fact that Americans are paying nearly $5 a gallon for gas - almost exclusively due to the fact that environmental extremists have waged war against the American people - you'd believe that elected officials have a responsibility to help correct the record and ease the pain of the average family.

That's why it's so astounding that on a party-line vote of 9-6 a subcommittee voted against even letting a bill go to the full floor of the House that would have allowed us to go access energy sources that are 200 miles off our shores but that could supply us close to 90 billion barrels of oil, and over 432 trillion cubic feet of natural gas - that we already own. That amount of oil would equal the total amount of oil we have produced as a nation as a whole since 1970.

And if we wanted to see the price of middle eastern oil drop, all we'd have to do is announce that we were going to go pull up the oil we already own. The cartel would begin to reduce prices before the press conference concluded.

Of course this doesn't even begin to address the issue of why the liberal democrats won't allow us to expand nuclear energy supplies. I guess keeping the environment clean and safe, while simultaneously lowering the cost to the already worn out American consumer is something Democrats don't see being able to budget into their own future.

While Kelly the dolphin recognized the value of what she had and began to responsibly save and budget for unforeseen eventualities, Congressional Democrats choose to ignore what we have, weaken our position to bargain and produce, and eventually injure our position for very foreseeable circumstances that are looming dead smack in front of us.

I also have to wonder why the leader of the Democratic party Barack Obama doesn't step up and do the right thing.

The truth is that this election cycle is watching the old school, common sense, small "L", liberal (like Tim Russert) be eradicated in the Democratic party by the leftists/marxist machine of Soros/Obama. Political power is worth more to them personally than practical people solutions for the millions of people they wish to "lead", "protect", and tax.

One global warming extremist even admitted to me just two weeks ago at church on Sunday morning that new environmental rules must be established so that people's behavior would be forced to change. He was even disgusted when I questioned whether or not CO2 was a pollutant or not.

One thing is clear though, if Kelly the dolphin can learn to maximize her resources, take responsibility for her own actions, and seize control of her future as best she can - she is imminently more qualified for office than Pelosi, Reid, or Obama.

So democrats - which makes you more angry, the fact that someone says that you're dumber than dolphins...

Or the fact that there is now self-evident proof that it’s true?

At the rate Pelosi and the rest of Congress is going, I could very well be tempted to vote for Flipper if he was running.

...The sad reality is McCullough is on the mark about the Environmental extremists having more sway over elected officials than the majority of hard working normal Americans.

The ‘RATS are wrecking this country with their scorched earth blitzkrieg to take over America. Up until now, only polliticians in third world sewers used the scorched earth technique to take over a country. It’s a “historic” first that it’s now being used in America.

I wouldn’t include truly conservative Democrats on the “dumber than dolphins” list. Believe it or not, there are still some decent Democrats in existence throughout the U.S. who side with conservatives on MANY issues although their numbers are getting smaller every year. Zell Miller is one such Democrat who comes to mind.

MIDI - FLIPPER

There is a man, a mystery man
He'd hurt our nation all that he can
Changing his mind like his underwear
John Kerry's full of hot air

They call him Flipper, Flipper
And what he stands for we do not know
It's anyone's guess

They call him Flipper, Flipper
And he'll proudly tell you
He voted "No" but first voted "Yes"

There is a man, a mystery man
Terrorists are so glad that he ran
Changing his mind like his underwear
John Kerry's full of hot air

They call him Flipper, Flipper
And what he stands for we do not know
It's anyone's guess

They call him Flipper, Flipper
And he'll proudly tell you
He voted "No" but first voted "Yes"

There is a man, a mystery man
For all of us he has a dark plan
Changing his mind like his underwear
John Kerry's full of hot air

They call him Flipper, Flipper
And what he stands for we do not know
It's anyone's guess

They call him Flipper, Flipper
And he'll proudly tell you
He voted "No" but first voted "Yes"

An Executive Order issued in 1998 by President Clinton prohibits the Secretary of Interior from leasing off the East and West coasts, in the North Aleutian basin in Alaska and in most of the eastern Gulf of Mexico prior to June 30, 2012.

Moratoria were first enacted in the FY82 Interior Department Appropriations Act (PL 97-100) for leasing off central and northern California. Since that time, restrictions on the OCS program have been extended to cover additional areas and activities. Since 1990, following former President Bush’s directive to withdraw a number of areas from OCS program activity, the acreage under moratoria each year nationwide has totaled approximately 266 million acres, or 18 percent of the OCS.

Presidential action under the authority of the OCSLA, section 12 (a) has resulted in additional restrictions. In June, 1990, President George H.W. Bush issued a directive to withdraw three general areas from new leasing and development until the year 2000. These areas included the south-eastern coast of Florida, the west coast, and the north Atlantic coast. In August, 1992, President Bush issued a memorandum to the Secretary of the Interior confirming his 1990 directive as implemented into the 5-year OCS Oil and Gas Program for 1992-1997. These regions of the OCS are included in President Clinton’s broader Executive Order forbidding leasing of most of the OCS in the contiguous United States until 2012.

Considering how many times Obama changes his mind on issues based on political expediency, I’d say the Dems are already running “Flipper” for President. Unfortunately, I doubt he’s as smart as a real dolphin.
