Google’s Rainbow-colored Results for "Gay"
Google Blogoscoped ^ | June 17, 2008

Posted on 06/17/2008 12:35:21 PM PDT by John Jorsett

When you search Google for gay, you will see special rainbow colors next to the AdWords ads to the right side. Rainbow colors are a globally recognized gay symbol and there’s Pride Week coming up.

On a related note, Google also sometimes dresses up AdWords for holidays, and they’ve also had their own wagons at gay parades before. Within Google, gay employees call themselves “gayglers.”

Did they do anything for Dad’s day?
No?

So gays are more important than fathers. Feh.

I am frustrated that the word “gay” only means homosexual nowadays. They took a perfectly good word, which used to mean carefree and happy, and now the old meaning is lost. How many of us would say today that we had a gay old time somewhere? Gee maybe they will censor old Flintstones cartoons, because the theme song lyrics include “we’ll have a gay old time”.

Not to mention, “Deck the Halls” includes “gay apparel”. What the heck do they think of that term in The Castro?

I am proud to say that I would have never known that, had I not read it just now.

There is nothing gay about being a disgusting pervert, hence the need they feel to put the happy face on in order to market the behavior. Male homosexuals are the #1 vector for human diseases on the planet. Why should they, or the taxpayers funding this problem, be happy? Same goes for IV drug users.

Mentally ill are as mentally ill do.

Those that defend the homosexual lifestyle as “normal” are no different than the enablers of alcoholics and drug addicts.

Sorry folks, but homosexuality is a mental illness.. and the PC demands that no one state the obvious be damned.

Since their "black-out day" silly gimmick I've stopped using google except as an alternative when YaHu! does not deliver, 90 percent of the time YaHu! works for my puposes.

You know, the ChiCom search engine YaHu! and its (alleged) restricted results? Thus far, hard-coded restrictions are imposed only in Red China, everything else is just failures.

As for goggle successful, super-rich savants are not known for their social savvy unless in far too many cases it's socialism for the little people. Why do you think that sometimes savant means idiot?

“Did they do anything for Dad’s day?

Yes they did. They had a tasteful green graphic of a man flying a kite with his son.

I’m no fan of Google, but give credit where it’s due. (After all, the surest way to look like a crackpot is to base accusations on provably false information.)

Yes, indeed, I just found out that a search for "gay" and "homosexual" results in a rainbow; however a search for "festive" does not result in a rainbow. BACKSTORY: in my unit, well, it's kind of a joke, but we aren't supposed to say "gay," like, "Filling out a DA Form 2062? That's gay!" So it was suggested to say instead, "Filling out a DA Form 2062? That's festive!"

Yeah, there is EO regulations, and there is what actually happens - in my unit that has exactly two females (who are rarely ever around us) and about 50 guys. If we actually had a significant female presence, it would be a lot of paperwork. :-)

I’m curious why Google made a special design just for the homosexuals after searching ‘gay’ but not for others. Obviously Google Corporate paid for the extra design and I find that very puzzling. Do they really want to choose sides in the culture war?

I haven't used Google in years. There are much better search engines. Dogpile is a good search engine that doesn't support far-left causes. Clusty is another that groups the responses to your searches in a very useful fashion (and which also doesn't push a political view on you).

I typed it in just to see.
That “Hot Gay Movies Online” link on top of the sponsored side bar sure looks intriguing.
