There is a scriptural principle, a Natural Law, that those in the godless media cannot and will not understand:
“Give and it shall be given unto you.”
The Sea of Galilee is alive, because it not only takes in, it gives out...via the Jordan River.
The Dead Sea is dead because it has no outlet, no outflow. It takes and never gives.
And so, policies like those being promulgated by the AP are, in a practical sense, stupid in the extreme. In the internet age, those who hog content are doomed. They’re guaranteeing their own demise.
I join with you in boycotting the Associated Press. I won’t use excerpts from any of their stories on any of the websites I’m associated with.
It’s time for the people themselves to become the media. Jim, you’ve led the way in this regard for a decade, but we must find as many ways as we can to take it to a whole new level.
We get the truths from the master anyway. That’s all we need.
excerpt: This guy just does not have enough experience to be pulling all this off the way he is and writing these speeches and so forth.”
So I said, “There gotta be somebody.” Not an Oz. I don’t mean in a conspiratorial way. I don’t mean some Oz behind a curtain yanking the strings, but somebody, some pro, some hack that has made a strategeric decision that Obama is the perfect front man for the leftists and the radicals to take over the party — and, lo and behold, from Thomas Lifson, who runs the American Thinker blog: Soren Dayton of RedState, also one of our favorite blogs here, “Notices that Barack Obama’s choice of Jim Johnson to make vice presidential choices is worse than previously understood.” You’ve heard about this Johnson guy. He’s got ties to Countrywide, the home lender; very close ties to Angelo Mozilo, the guy that ran it. He’s a Democrat Party hack, a lobbyist and all this — the exact opposite of what Obama claims his campaign is all about. However, according to RedState, there is more on Johnson.
“In 2001, he joined Perseus, LLC, as vice-chairman. Perseus has a number of funds. Among them are the Perseus Soros Biopharmaceutical Fund LP, which Perseus co-manages. It was formed in 2000 with capital commitments totaling $449 million to make investments in life science companies.” So Perseus — it might be Perseus, I’m not sure. I’ve never heard it pronounced. It’s P-e-r-s-e-u-s. “Perseus is a business partner with George Soros; and Johnson, one of Obama’s vice presidential vetters, is the vice-chairman. Incidentally, the Say Anything blog notes that Perseus also seems to own the publisher of the Scott McClellan book.” So George Soros’ business partner is helping select Obama’s veep. How interesting that Obama just keeps coming up with friends and appointees with very dubious associations, who are no more than Democrat Party hacks. Some change, eh?

Do all these places that forbid FR to post their articles also forbid it of other newsblogs/discussion forums such as DU, DailyKos, Lucianne.com, etc? If not, it looks like discrimination to me - don’t know if that would make a legal case, but if it is forbidden for one, it ought to be forbidden for ALL, IMO.
Boycotts from a website like FR seem a little futile since the loss of readership doesn’t harm AP, only enhances their value as a premium service for anyone who wants to use their product.
Going to court to get a definition of ‘fair use’ is another option. Been there; failed at that. Looks like headlines and five words and then on to link city is the only feasible option.
In the final analysis, isn’t the AP setting rules for fair use kinda like the owner of a website setting the rules of useage because they own it and pay for the privilege or distribution among their approved clients?
I suppose there is always the option of someone starting up their own news service if they don’t like the owner’s stand on the rules of usage.
It may be a good thing, however.
It may take a load off FR.
FR has become so unstable [3 major crashes this month] and sluggish, even now, that it isn’t going to make it through the Conventions, much less the election.
These left-wing, anti-American propaganda organs have no right barring people in any way, form or manner from quoting their garbage for the purposes of conversation or criticism.
If they are so concerned about what they are saying, maybe they shouldn’t be saying it at all.
Their actions are a clear infringement of the Second Amendment. I can’t understand how they can get away with this.
My brain automatically associates Black Label with a very large, thick medium rare Porterhouse or T-bone steak.
Now I'm salivating over the keyboard dreaming about my “Disappointment Meal”.
It's always a disappointment because either I run out of 18 oz of steak or I run out of three fingers of Black Label - either way I'm disappointed.
Lurking’
Jim, I am not suprised that the AP is doing this. They are “jealous” of the sucess of the new media and want to silence us. AP and the msm will fail.
Good question! The following 5 words in red are taken straight from an AP story...
We should try to commit ourselves to the posting rules of FR.
Am I now in violation?
This decision by Jim is truly a blessing in disguse. FR as we know has been having bigtime server problems and with the major pre general election campain season under way, FR will most likely have to get more bandwith just to make it to November or look for a new server. The best servers are Apple Mac servers.
Yeah, I know. And dumping a few crates of tea into the harbor was a futile action also. No one’s going to give up drinking tea to save a couple cents in taxes. Much less go to war over it.
This looks like the watershed moment. The “for us or against us” moment of decision. AP is a cornered animal making its last desperate stand.

That looked like Blue Label to me ... Yummy!
I was wondering the same thing. I know we’ve got some people who check out those other sites. I think whenever they see an AP article on those sites. They should report it to us and drop the AP an email just to know we’re keeping tabs.

Easy. Call your local dying dinosaur newspaper and say you're cancelling your subscription (and your advertising if you're in business) until they drop their AP affiliation.
