Behold, a miracle: Public anger over $4 gas is forcing at least some of our political class to confront their energy contradictions. Last week, Republicans Jim Walsh of New York and Roscoe Bartlett of Maryland -- two longstanding opponents of offshore drilling -- asked for a mulligan. We can now add John McCain to the roll: In a speech in Houston yesterday, the Senator finally came out in favor of increasing domestic energy supplies.
This is progress, even if it did come dressed in some of Mr. McCain's familiar policy confusions. In the past, the Republican has been a chief opponent of opening up the vast U.S. offshore regions and other federal lands where oil-and-gas exploration and production are prohibited, especially the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Just vote them out.
Finally, a position that is in the best interest of all Americans and a real world solution .....not some red diaper doper baby nonsense that spews out BO’s mouth...
Exactly. This is one of the few rare glimmers where I’ve looked at John McCain and thought, “I could maybe vote for this guy.”
I think when that happens I need to permanently plug my ears until November because it usually means something bad is about to follow.
As long as McCain thinks conservatives won’t vote for him, little tidbits of commonsense from him will happen.Granted,we get chunks of leftist garbage as well but the covert Clintonistas and McCainiacs who keep screeching that we HAVE to vote for McCain in order to stop Obama are only wasting their influence and making things worse.
Let the RINO sweat about our votes until November so we can get more concessions.
I simply don’t trust McCain on this issue. I think that he has changed positions just to get more votes...then when he’s president he intends to go back to his original position. But, I think that the oil crisis is going to be with us for a long time to come. The next president will find that the crisis will consume his presidency. The oil crisis wil be more imporatant in the next president’s term than healthcare, social security, global warming or the Iraq War. So maybe its a good sign that McCain is showing some flexibility now. It might indicate that he won’t be able to do a “180” if he is elected.
