Obambi doesn’t want any federal oversight after LARRY SINCLAIR outted him as a homosexual cocaine dealer...

Mr. Sinclair was arrested immediately after his Press Conference at the National Press Club by supposed U.S. Marshals...and whereabouts are unknown maybe in Delaware.

Yep! The Obama camp wants the Fed. Election Committee to investigate McCain for violations when McCain decided not to take the public money!

But, when “Whitey” does this, it’s considered a Bad Thing.

Stupid Socialists.

“McCain is hardly the first candidate to bypass federal funding for the presidential campaign. Current President George W. Bush did it in 2000, running against Al Gore, and again in 2004, when he faced Massachusetts Senator John Kerry, and nearly all candidates for the White House this year have elected to forego the public funding mechanism for their campaigns. Public funding provides presidential candidates with federal government funds that are to be used in both the party primary and in the general election.

According to the Federal Election Commission, federal funding of presidential campaigns began in 1976, but was first recommended by President Theodore Roosevelt in 1907. Roosevelt also proposed a complete ban on private donations. With a spending limit of just over $50 million, candidates could find themselves limited in tough, closely contested primaries that require substantial amounts of money to remain competitive.”

Yes the DNC did. They are trying to limit the amount of money that Mr. CFR can spend on his election so the Democrats can win by getting more ad time, more 527 exposure, and crushing the competition.

There is NO free speech in Obama's Amerikkka. Get used to it.

Democrats are out to win by any means necessary. Socialists lie. ALWAYS.

I think it boils down to McCain saying that he would take the money and they are trying to hold him to that.

Obama DemocRats may have promised they would but if they did not sign anything there is no acceptance of the money.

LOL. Gee, what a surprise. Obama has a huge advantage in fund raising and will not give it up to McCain who has turned off much of the GOP base and can't raise very much money. Hence, McCain's only choice is public financing. Obama would be stupid to give up his fund raising advantage. An only the Supid Party [GOP] would have its maverick as its standard bearer. You reap what you sow.

Ooooh. Well, now he can spend all he wants. I wonder what liberals think about the huge amount of money in politics now.

Hey, just out of curiousity—I remember President Bush putting ON HIS WEB SITE the name of every contributor to his campaign and the amount they gave.

Is B. Hussein doing the same?

The campaign went even further in answers to a questionnaire sent to the various political campaigns in September 2007 by the Midwest Democracy Network. The questionnaire posed a very simple question to the candidates: “If you are nominated for President in 2008 and your major opponents agree to forgo private funding in the general election campaign, will you participate in the presidential public financing system?”

You can read Obama’s response here. The candidate highlighted the simple answer “Yes” and elaborated as follows:

In February 2007, I proposed a novel way to preserve the strength of the public financing system in the 2008 election. My plan requires both major party candidates to agree on a fundraising truce, return excess money from donors, and stay within the public financing system for the general election. My proposal followed announcements by some presidential candidates that they would forgo public financing so they could raise unlimited funds in the general election. The Federal Election Commission ruled the proposal legal, and Senator John McCain (R-AZ) has already pledged to accept this fundraising pledge. If I am the Democratic nominee, I will aggressively pursue an agreement with the Republican nominee to preserve a publicly financed general election.

Didn’t they just file a lawsuit over McCains’s doing the same exact thing?

In a word, "no."

The issue with McCain is on the subject of public money for a PRIMARY campaign. McCain applied for that, "had his application approved" (the FEC certified his eligibility, and recited the amount of money the government owed him). There is an open question about whether or not McCain "used" the FEC promise to pay as collateral for a loan, or otherwise to advantage (IMO, he did, but the penalty is a $25,000 fine).

OTOH, Obama NEVER applied for public money in the PRIMARY campaign.

There is a completely separate system for funding a GENERAL election campaign. With regard to the general, both candidates have said, more or less "I'm in, if my opponent is in." Now McCain can blame Obama for breaking a promise - but I think it's better viewed as which one would be first to opt out so both can opt out. Now both can say thatteh public money is inadequate anyway, and advocate for increased amounts of public money so candidates aren't tempted to opt-out.

If the situation were reversed and McCain had a huge fundraising advantage, I seriously doubt that many here would be for him sticking to some pledge. Obama has the advantage in money and is not giving it up.
