I have no doubt that this is the intent. However, everyone present was laughing at Waters display of idiocy. She is either heavily medicated or one of the most stupid members of our Congress.

So the government agency responsible for building the largest debt in world history, now thinks that it should be responsible for running even more of the economy. Are they going for a debt level of 20 to 30 trillion ?

As one of the heads of the extremist group MoveOn.org said of this once-great party, “We bought it. We own it.” Democratic leaders leave little doubt as to how far to the loony left their party has drifted.

If socialists don't believe in property rights, how is it that they can "own" the democratic party?

In late May, Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters of Los Angeles, grilling oil company executives in committee hearings, blurted out: “This liberal will be about socializing . . . uh, um . . .” She paused, perhaps noticing that she had let the Democratic Party’s mask slip, then continued: “would be about, basically, taking over, and the government running all of your companies.” On Wednesday this week Democratic congressional leaders held a press briefing to respond to President George W. Bush’s call to lift the moratorium on offshore oil drilling.

Democratic Rep. Maurice Hinchey of New York offered another way to bring down gasoline prices, now topping $4 per gallon in most of the United States. “We [the government] should own the refineries,” announced Rep. Hinchey. “Then we can control how much gets out into the market.”

I'd just like to remind Waters and Hinchey before taking over an industry that has revenues of hundreds of billions of dollars a year, and is quite possibly the most important industry in the USA, that they couldn't even run a fracking restaurant without having to depend on government bailouts for decades! Eventually the House caught a clue and privatized their dining room. But the Senate still insists on keeping control and running it themselves. And they just recently requested $250,000 in order to meet payroll.

For a fictionalized account of what happens when something like the above occurs, see "Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand. For a real-world example of what happens when something like the above occurs, see Zimbabwe.

Democrats say we cannot drill our way out of the energy crisis. Repeat a lie long enough and it becomes the truth. We absolutely can drill our way out of this mess but we must begin. Let US companies explore, produce, and manufacture oil products.

We cannot nationalize, conserve, regulate, tax, sue, windfarm, solar panel, electric car, our way out of this energy crisis. We must produce oil products. Every delay is another dollar funding our enemies and another loss to today's and tomorrow's national economy. Global Warming is another lie but not yet repeated enough to stick in the face of $4 gasoline.

There was a time where America was "Can Do" in the face of any challenge. The nanny state has made us soft. Let us pray that we are not too soft to recover that spirit.
